I've downloaded EB and want to know what I should do now.

I was going to install another version of RTW with the 1.2 patch.

And then I don't know what to do.

is that all I have to then run the installation?

that's what I was planning to do but I only get an uninstall option when I put RTW in.

I know some others know how to handle this issue. It has something to do with the registry. Unfortunately I am not the person who can help, but I hope someone else will respond here to help Mr. Taffy out on this issue.

Back up your BI saved game file, get rid of BI (disgusting generic units, you won't regret it once you've played EB). Install EB over clean 1.2. Vanilla.

Change your original BI directory to something else. Then uninstal BI (in reality it wont be uninstaled becouse you changed directory and uninstaler wont be able to find it). This will get rid off regestry entys. Then you can safly install RTW.

I changed BI stuff, but only after I uninstalled and reinstalled RTW.
Will that make a difference?

It says I've installed it, I've got rid of the RTW data that you're meant to.

Now I don't know what to do. I have no EB icon that is not uninstall/install.

RTW will not load now. What should happen?

Please describe, in detail, the steps you took to get to this point. It appears you didn't follow the advice exactly, and if not you could have serious problems. So please provide details.

1. uninstalled RTW
2. reinstalled RTW + patch
3. altered BI files
4. installed EB
5. got rid of the RTW files that it was recommended to get rid of.

I am now going to start again.

EB will not function with BI at all. You need to install RTW, then install the 1.2 patch only.

There is a way to keep BI on your computer in another location, but you will need to follow the process exactly and not skip any steps, or do them out of order. Someone posted this process elsewhere around here earlier.
