During the AI turns, I leave their movement speed normal, not sped up and I can go on. In my Casse campaign I mentioned, I tried this and have played many a fruitful years past my expectations, still playing now actually. I've almost conquered all of Britain, seiging the last stronghold to the North now. Unfortunately, rebels have started popping up now and I'm getting distracted. Does lowering taxes help lowering rebels appearing? Even though all the towns are happy with vey high taxes, I assume it might still have an affect?
yeha, same here. i'm playing vh/vh with casse (after hearing everyone rave about them, i had to try!)

i've had 4 ctds so far (it's 252 i think), and all of them but one did not duplicate after reload (with script on). one duplicated twice after reload, turn off FOW, and the ctd did not occur. i haven't gone back and tested that CTD more yet, but i have the savegame.

i've conquered only ictis and ynis-mon so far. i've suffered some brutal defeats.. took me three separate assaults and cost me 3 generals over the course of several years. just lost a brutal fight for ratae too, though i didn't lose any generals at least. that battle had about 3000 warriors in it (1600 me v 1400 them), only 600 bloody soldiers walked away! 150 of mine 450 of theirs. but after ratae is done, it looks like smooth sailing through the rest of britain.. though it's going to take me awhile to rebuild my army..
now i'm here, and history is vindicated.

Sounds fun. I had a bit of a different experience, playing on M/M. The battles seem a bit too easy, but I don't mid yet because I hadn't played RTW in such a long time waiting for EB. The next campaign I play, which will hopefully be with the full version, will be more difficult. Anyhoo, I didn't attack the rebels for the first few years, building up a nice surplus. Then gathered my forces and headed west, lead of course by Barae. Over the course of the next 14 years, conquered both the mainland and the supplemental lands. Now I might lay back for a while and build my towns before heading over the channel to attack the Gauls. Barae the Conquerer and his men have earned a rest.

haha, that was my plan too! unfortunately a large rebel stack from ynys-mon decided to end the peace in about the 3rd year or so. i was shocked. i didn't think the rebels would out-right attack my city without provocation!

i managed to harass the larger force with my chariots and drove them into a compacted mass, then i encircled the mass with my smaller forces and slaughtered them! turns out that was my last actually decent battle. i began my campaign of 'homeland security' right after i defeated that stack. hired some mercs and marched on icitis, and hired some mercs to help out. my spy spoted another rebel steak headed south, so i assaulted ictis instead of waiting them out. 2 of my 3 rams were destroyed before the reached the walls by sotroas! so i had to funnel through one hole in the wall. anyway, i finally won that battle but i lost barae doing it!

thus began the long and dreadful struggle... without barae, it's a nightmare on vh/vh.
now i'm here, and history is vindicated.

Lure the Northern Briton rebels to the bridge by the Casse City. If you know how to choke them on the bridge, you should be able to wipe them all out with minimal losses.

what's the use off a poll when there's no "GAH!"?

Ofcourse I knew what to expect. But when I tested the internal beta of EB in july. I was blown away. And ofcourse this version is 100 times better than 0.52.
So I probably would totally be in love with this version if I wouldn't have played EB. So it would have been the first option.
