When I installed BI it automatically took RTW from 1.2 to 1.3. I had several new unit skins as well as some gameplay fixes installed prior to this; installing BI caused the original skins to come back, so I'm assuming it overwrites the mods that you may have.

Depends a lot on what you've modded. When I purchased BI and installed it, RTW broke. But then I'd heavily modded RTW (Mundus Magnus, XGM, and a host of changes to fit my tastes.) I ended up having to uninstall RTW, re-install a clean version, and then install BI.

my moddifications are only units added and mercs nothing more. I havent messed with maps or installed any other total convertion mod.

So lets say i install over RTW BI my skins come back to original and added units gonne. If i copy back the battle_unit.text and descriptions am i gonna be ok?

Might get a better answer (more knowledgable) in the Modding section, but I believe that the BI install updates/patches RTW. In doing this it replaces several of the .txt files with new versions. While I don't think you're game will stop working based on what you've said, its probable that the changes that you've made will disappear.

As for making a copy of the files that you've changed and restoring them after installing BI, well you can try it and it might work, but my money is on it not working. I'd simply remake the mods again to the new files (assuming that they are not to extensive.)
