    Default Removing Senate?

I'm unifying Rome in my latest Mod and want to remove the Senate also. I haven't tried this before. Does anybody know what the consequences will be other than the obvious like no senate or missions for the romans? Will it even work, I've heard it will.

I know how to modify the campaign strat file. I just need to know if it's done in the same way and if their are any unintended consequences.

P.S. I got the 'we haven't had any posts from you recently' message today when I logged in. I feel like you guys missed me or something. I've mainly been using this site to link tutorials for folks asking questions at the other sites.

No senate missions, no elections. No strange side-effects that I've noticed.

    I initially started from this:

    https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=50446

though I found it better to remove all "former Roman" characters. I've played the campaign game all the way through with this mod and had no problems.

I've since experimented (briefly) with removing the Senate entry completely from the descr_strat.txt file. This requires that you remove the "superfaction romans_senate" line from the remaining roman faction entry and prevents the "faction destroyed" message at the beginning of the game. I've noticed no problems with this though I've not done much testing. Will do so next time I start a campaign.

What about the 'at war' stuff. I intend to have just the one roman faction the Julii so do I still need the diplomacy lines.

If you leave the Senate faction entry in descr_strat.txt, the Julii must be at war with the Senate in order for the Senate to be destroyed. If they aren't at war, the Senate will continue to issue missions.

If you remove the Senate entry completely, I don't see that it matters.

Have you seen a tutorial on what has to remain and what must go. I'm working off an old mundus magnus unified rome strat file. It leaves parts of the other factions info still in there. This is what I've done so far I moved all towns to the Julii, carthage or the rebels. I added or moved armies to the apropriate citys but I didn't create any new characters. I eliminated all but this

    faction romans_brutii, balanced stalin
    superfaction romans_senate
    denari 20000

    faction romans_scipii, bureaucrat napoleon
    superfaction romans_senate
    denari 20000

    faction romans_senate, comfortable napoleon
    denari 20000

and I moved the brutii and scipii to the nonplayable
    like this
    campaign BareBones ;; v1.4
    playable
    romans_julii
    egypt
    seleucid
    carthage
    parthia
    gauls
    germans
    britons
    greek_cities
    macedon
    pontus
    armenia
    dacia
    scythia
    spain
    thrace
    numidia
    end
    unlockable

    end
    nonplayable
    romans_senate
    romans_brutii
    romans_scipii
    slave
    end

    start_date -280 summer
    end_date -40 summer

Right now its CTD'ying without an error message from show_err, any ideas.

Just the link I added in a earlier post.

I don't know anything about mundus magnus. What you've posted looks OK to me.

Just off the top of my head:

Did any characters change factions? If so, they must have names appropriate for the new faction.

Did the magnus mundus strat file work before you made any mods?

I know how you feel at this point - unfortunately when you're in this situation and need help the most, others are least able to give it. Good luck.

After getting everything up and running I did get one CTD thats 'Missing Senate' related. Don't hit the Senate offices button just to see.........CTD.
