Eh, I need more background on this.
What was he doing before the police confronted him?
Had he commited a crime?
Was he endangering people, threatening officers, etc?
What was the situation in general?

Ja Mata, Tosa.
The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the Crown. It may be frail; its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storm may enter; the rain may enter; but the King of England cannot enter – all his force dares not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement! - William Pitt the Elder
Sweet! But seriously, that's why they have non lethal weapons and should use them. And the pathetically general title seriously detracts from anything serious you have to say. But if that was your point than

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

It would have been better to shoot the man. Now we have to use tax dollars on body damage to the car and the meter. What a waste.
RIP Tosa
But think of the paper work man! The cops would have needed mental help not due to shooting the man but the hours of paper work. That would have costed the tax payers many more dollars that fixing a car. Its a shame though when good cops go bad due to filling out thousands of papers.Originally Posted by Devastatin Dave

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.
I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

Wow I expected a clip where the guy was shot 400 times or something. He should consider himself lucky.
Maybe they didnt have non-lethal things on their person at the time. Screw this guy he should have dropped th knife. I'm no fan of police misbehaviour and even fear some police as much as I fear criminals, but this is the wrong clip to start your anti-US police rant with. In most places he would have just been shot as soon as he walked towards the cop while holding a blade.

When surrounded by police yelling "Put the knife down!" while pointing guns at you there is only one thing to do - put the knife down.
They had every right to shoot him. A person with a knife within twenty feet of you is an immediate and deadly threat. If he does not comply with police orders to disarm and approaches an officer they can shoot him on the spot.
