    Question The Armenian Faction

Hi all, first of all Happy New year to all. Great mod, its the best I have played.

I have some questions and comments on the armenian faction.

    1. Do they not get those amazing caths anymore?(heavy cav) if so then why?

    2. The name is actuly Hayastan, or HYE
you can check this website for more info http://www.hayastan.com/indexen.php

    3. how come the units aren't posted on the site?

    4. how many units do we exactly get? Also what buildings do we get?

    5. I tried playing them but the rebels are insanely strong and apperently they make troops too. Btw I play on h/h. They have better troops types then I do

    6. Now this is about the romans: their buildings and units are awsome but they have selucid banner and that kind of confuses me during battle. But the big problem is I can't make any roman units except the first six cities I start with. In syracuce and they cities around it I can't train any units yet I have that lvl 1 building and the barracks but no troops

PS: Awsome job guys. I couldn't believe how good this mod was when I started playing it. My only complaint is not enough units as the armenians and being an armenian they are my favorite faction.

Those problems have been noted already.

There may be different ways to transcribe it. For instance, in Chinese, the sound that pinyin records as D (unaspirated voiceless alveolar plosive, as English T in star) is in other transcription methods recorded as T.

When I say the units are missing I mean on the webpage not in the game.

So the cataphracts are still in? what exactly do I need to build to get them? Also any strategies on how to proceed as the armenians?
In my last compaign as the macedonians the armenians ruled. They had like 8 provinces. When I try them I always end up stagnated after the first 3 cities. Since I can't afford a big army to take on the rebels and when I build my cities for a while to save up money for a big army the rebels train huge armies in their cities which makes it almost impossible to beat them. Also the horse archers that I get aren't as good as they use to be.

BTW not complaining here, I just want some advice on how to play them

    thanks

Armenian Warlord, I'm pretty sure that the Armenian faction (like the rest of the factions) isn't finished yet. ;)

You build the MIC level up. To about 3 or 4 for the lowest, I think.

That screenshot looks sweet . I can't wait until I can train those guys and kick all the rebels out.

I was reading the history on them and I noticed that it says Tigran 2 was the king's nephew; I have read the book called Tigran the Great in Armenian and in it says Tigran 2 was the son of the current king Tigran 1. After Tigran 1 was deafeated by the parthians in battle he was forced to give up his only son for a peace treaty and Tigran 2 would be allowed to go back only after his father dies.

Also Cleopatra wasn't his first wife; his first wife was the daughter of the most powerful armenian nakharar. His first born's name was Varazdat who ended being the next king of armenia.

I can write more if anyone is intreasted.

    thanks for the screenshot

    PS. got anymore pics?

If you want to do work for the Armenian faction we could probably use the help. I'll send our remaining Armenian historian to talk to you about it.

For sure, anything to finely see the armenians represented in a war game correctly. I would definitely like to talk to your historian because the history he wrote was really awsome I give him props.

Units wise you guys seem to have them covered pretty well since armenian kings mostly used heavy cavalry and horse archers. We actually had the best cataphract archers. Tigran 2 hated using infantry at any time because he believed they would just slow down his cavalry and get in the way.

Maybe you guys incorporate titles that some of the nakharars had. Like the Sparapet(supreme commender of all the armed forces), or tagadir(he crowns the king), and then there was the guy who was incontrol of the organization of hunting and parties then there was one that looked after the king's wifes.

Maybe we can give the eastern king's many wifes which would allow them to have more kids unless thats hardcoded

Btw the capital of armenia at the time of Tigran 2 was Artashat named after Artashes who was I believe Tigran's grandfather or great grandfather not 100% sure. Tigran 2 founded Tigranacert and brought people from all the cities he had conquered to live there. I'm not sure though what the capital was at the start of the game.

PS: I will try to find info on buildings and units and will post here but there aren't lot of books available on Armenian that were written in BC since the christian priests burned everting when Armenian became christian.

Unfortantetly, only four offspring are allowed, which sucks for the factions like the Parthians and Armenians who practiced polygomy.

Guys we need the armenian cavalry strenghtened. They are way to weak at this moment. You guys have made the armenian arudzi pathetic Throughout history everyone agreed that armenian arudzi was the most awsome force. They devestated any infentry and all cavalry but at the time they can't even take on stupid horse archers or basic infentry.

Please make them stronger, after all they are all we have. I will find some books to try to prove my point that they were awsome.

Well stats are still being tweaked. But I doubt they were better than the Parthians or the nomadic nations, but we'll take it under advisment. Could it be that they are attacking when they are tired? And what units are you losing too? Are you charging head on to infantry?

Try some other heavy cav and compare the way they work. They won't be better than Hetairoi Kataphracts, the best Parthians, the most heavily armored steppe cav or maybe the SBC but IIRC they're pretty good.

The best Armenia cav are the Nakhararakan Aspet and the Nakhararakan Tiknapah.

I have read at least 10 books that state that armenian cavalry kicked the crap out of the parthians. We were the steppe cavalry guys I mean look at armenia it is between mountains on all sides. The only cav better then armenian were the companions and thats about it. But currently my general's cavalry gets man handled by pretty much any cavalry.

I have just fought maybe 20 battles against the selucids and their generals are invinsible Two of their general units (100+72) took down my whole army of 1000+ troops in the middle of the city I had 2 general units one of which was my king with 100 units with 2 gold chevrons 10 stars 7 cavalry archers with 4-5 expericence each, 3 foot archers and 2 units of my best spearmen and I still got kicked and cut to pieces

I know companions might have been good but were they gods?

PS I still can't get the cathapracts, also can we please make the general's bodygaurds caths instead of what they are now.

Yeah, like I said before, everything is still being worked on. And have you trained the cataphracts? You can't judge their cavalry on the lower level cavalry units.

And Armenians were not steppe nomads, they were sedentary. The steppe nomads were the best horsemen ever (and probably still are).

I would stick with a battle difficulty of medium too, since anything higher boosts the enemy stats, and they're already tough enough usually. Now, if battle difficulty affected intelligence, I woulda loved it.

Wow, I have to give props to EB for making a game that I could easly beat on vh/vh to getting my ass kicked on h/h and thats after I managed to expend to about 10 cities as the armenians and had about 7k income a turn which isn't really much since one unit of archers is 2.4k and those catharphact looking archerrs arre 4.5k each

I had pontus pinned to it's last city and had managed to fend of the attacks by selukia which for some reason wouldn't not leave me alone or take cease fire even though they didn't attack me for like 5-10 years. Then on the year 246-242 BC my great empire was brought to its knees v

I've played an Armenian campaign down to about 230 or so. Honestly I would have lost in about 245 if I hadn't turned off the FOW for a while - I had to bring an army back quickly from the other side of my lands and if I hadn't I think they would have stormed in totally. The Seleukids had me back on my heels after I had expanded to about six provinces (the core plus kabalaka and trapezous). And the Ptolemies wouldn't ally with me. Thank goodness there were huge rebel armies in the south of the sarmatians' lands or they would have given me grief too. I've driven Pontos to Byzantion and now have taken Tarsos and Antiocheia (a huge city). I keep thinking the Ptolemies will attack now too though.

Make sure you recruit merc phalangites when you get into seleukid territories though - and keep a diplomat in every city. I've not had one town bribed yet doing that. Also, I put in type4 govts every time I take a greek city and then recruit some local archers or slingers before I try to really put a good government in.

I think there are problems with a lack of any foot javelin or archer unit for them it seems - I dunno if it's unit recruitment problems or if we just don't have skinners who have made those units yet, but it's a huge problem when you're playing as Armenia. There are about three almost identical infantry units with short spears, but that's almost totally it. Plus the generals' units are the worst in the game. We really need skinners and modellers to work on this stuff.

Glad you're enjoying it though!! I think I'm playing h/m by the way.

Has anyone checked out the generals stats. I'v noticed that the greeks and some other faction only had 1 hitpoint generals (oh yes Pontos maybe the reason they get pushed of the map a lot.) it really makes a diference so i go into the files and change the hp to 2. It works right away. In fact i wanted to leave the pontos gen's at 1 for this one battel which was already really hard but i changed it anyway and managed to win it in the end phhfff that was a tough one

Armenian general units are the weakest I have used. They die so fast I can't even keep a 3 gold chevron unit of 100 alive against even 42 pontus, selucid, egyptian or bactrian general. Also maybe you guys can give Armenia couple of spearmen or something to hold the line for maybe a minute or at least something that can stand and fight the enemy cavalry without me having to flunk them with my cavalery.

    PS thanks for the tips

There are some armenian archers, slingers, and two medium and elite footsoldier units that aren't in the game yet unfortunately. We are waiting on skinners/modellers to help us with them but they just aren't done yet.

Sounds good I'm an excellent cavalry general but vs those ubber enemy generals I have lot of trouble. With my cav archers I have wiped out thousands of selucid soldiers with minimal loses but when they souround your city there isn't much room to move and without infintry to hold the line while I flank they kick my ass
