I'm at 245BC as the Romans and i've experienced only random CTD's that i can't duplicate after they've happened...
Two random CTDs (264 & 260) with Yuezhi. At 258 currently.
No CTDs so far with Sauromatae 266.
I have had two non-duplicable CTDs.
I've had only one persistent CTD, which was caused by AI army movement. I was able to use Control [Faction] to "fix" it, so I didn't tick your second option. It would've been campaign ending if I didn't read Sim's "What to do with a persistent crash" thread on the other forum.
I'm playing as Baktria and have got to about 258BC so far.
Oh, and also the Roman and Seleucid flags seem to be switched.
i had several random CTDs in my casse campaign, that i couldn't duplicate. i've also had a CTD with the sweboz when i moved a spy into a rebel city (immediate CTD as the info scroll popped up). but that ctd did not duplicate on reload (with or without the script). played to ~250 with karthadastim, but never had a crash.
right now i'm stuck at a duplicated CTD at ~251bc with the casse. game is crashing on KH's AI turn. i'm still troubleshooting it. i think it has something to do with the AI moving armies around, because if i move all of KH's armies around manually (until movement point are used up), crash does not occur.
now i'm here, and history is vindicated.
I have had many (random) CTDs, usually after fighting more battles in a row, and when its the romans' turn.
However, I don't understand why couldn't CA put some lines into the code, that would prevent the crash to desktop. In most of the games if an error occurs, usuall some message appears, and the program handles the error.
Do you know what exactly cause the CTDs in the RTW engine?
I have had quite a few CTDs as the Casse. They were all reproduceable if that means I load the game play again and have the same CTD. Turning fow on or off often helped and/or stopping all building processes also worked for me (units and bulidings)Originally Posted by Big_John

Actually it does make a difference. As this is the EB forum, I am gathering information on CTDs for EB, not vanilla RTW. Of course you are correct that EB runs on the RTW engine, but the team has made fundamental changes to bits of that engine. Those changes can cause CTDs, so we need to pinpoint the source. Reproduceable CTDs are very different from unreproduceable CTDs. And CTDs unique to EB are very different from CTDs specific to vanilla.Originally Posted by jadam

Did you write any program? I guess not. I can assure you that there is planty of possible errors in simple applications and in RTW like aplication taking into acount moding done by persons who really dont know how the game works is just countless.
You usully handle most common errors.

There is no option for my case.
I have started my First campaign as the Casse and I'm currently at 190BC (got a few screenshots of the map for teleklos), and I've had DOZENS of CTDs so far, most I could reproduce (or in other words, experience it repeatedly untill I figured how to fix it), it always happened during the AI turns and I got past ALL of them by moving my Generals OUTSIDE of city or fort garrison, sometimes moving a specific General would fix it, sometimes I couldn't nail which one I had to move and I only got past the CTD after moving all of them out.
Several of my Generals got the Desert Warrior trait but they never left Great Britain, one of them got this skill NEVER having ever stepped outside a city in Britain, maybe these CTD's have something to do with the trait and ancilliaries system?
Simetrical asked for my save-game but since I haven't yet encountered a fatal CTD to kick me out of this campaign I haven't sent him, I believe these CTDs can be easily reproduced by starting a Casse campaign, conquering Great Britain and Hibernia optionally and then simply leaving all the Generals in garrisons, cities, forts, whatever and keep pressing the End Turn button, eventually, you should get the same CTD after enough turns.

I think Wardo makes a very good point about the traits and ancilliaries system. EB has added a lot of them and the exact method by which the generals get them is extremely complicated I'm sure as it is influenced by a huge multitude of factors.
I mean, if what Wardo says is true, and you really do get a CTD just by sitting there and doing nothing, then the only thing at work will be generals getting new traits and ancilliaries.
It migh also have to do with the AI combat resolutions, but I don't see how that would be Casse specific. There's definitely something to do with the Casse and their generals.

Some of the CTD's I fixed seemed to have this occurance... I'm not exactly sure if it was exaclty *that* that caused the crash, though, since I mostly move all of the AI's armies around to avoid all possibility of the game crashing and me having to wait ten minutes before it's loaded again.

I've had dozens of crashes, and not a single one did not happen on the Seleucid turn. Whatever the problem is, it's there.

My only persistent CTD was caused by Ptolemaioi army merging; however, taking control of their faction and "manually" merging them caused no problems.Originally Posted by Spendios

I've gotten persistent CTD's after my turn ends in both my Koinon Hellenon and Ptolemaioi campaigns around the year 250'ish B.C. Both cases, due to movement of Seleucid armies. Still trying to find what exactly happens to cause the CTD.

I've only had the one after taking Viennos(?) in my SPQR campaign. I do get the occasional screen lock up during loads though.. which is sort of annoying.

I've had three playing as the Baktrians after about 30-40 turns, and one with the Greeks over 50 turns or so, all of which were random, and upon reloading, did not occur again.
Actually, the Baktrian campaign is now unplayable. It crashed within 6 turns or so of starting up. My Greek campaign has crashed a few times more as well.
