Could the CTD's perhaps be -and this is purely hypothetical - related to two stacks of AI armies moving toward the exact same space, but without actually merging?
Some of the CTD's I fixed seemed to have this occurance... I'm not exactly sure if it was exaclty *that* that caused the crash, though, since I mostly move all of the AI's armies around to avoid all possibility of the game crashing and me having to wait ten minutes before it's loaded again.
