Nightmare Scenario: Sending unsupported infantry into the Gaesatae meat grinder (Although I've considerable luck against them using Phalanx and Pikemen.
Favorite Unit: Again, Gaesatae...love sending a unit of mercs crashing into an enemies flanks or infantry...*shudders in anticipation*...utter mayhem.

Generals, of any kind, those bodyguards are sick.
Untill recently I hadn't noticed what all the fuss over the Gaesatae was about. But then, each of those few times I'd encountered them, I'd outnumbered them. Earlier today I found myself whimpering as two units of the damned things rolled up my light infantry like a rug. I did eventually win that one, but I went from having 400+ men to around 120. Nasty buggers.

Two units really, Iberian Velites and Numidian Javelinmen. I've fought so many of these that it's starting to make me a bit frustrated.wall:

Bactrian Heteiroi bodyguards, those guys simply crush everything I have as Parthia. They are virtually immune to arrows and virtually invincible in melee...

Gaestae... Or naked immortals as i like to call them... They chew up early Roman units like... I don't even know what... Even triarii have a hard time with them... I remember the first time i saw them... After gigling for a minute or so, i just thought that they were going to be easy like they were in RTW and in RTR and SPQR mod... They were guarding the gate to a town... So i smashed it down and as usual, sent in all my hastati which at the time was 4 units... 5 minutes later they came running back out of the gate like babies having taken many losses... So in i sent the principes... 10 minutes later out they came, crying like babies once again... So i picked up the ram, rammed another part of the wall down, sent in the rorari to occupy them which they did for just long enough for my triarii to get in and form up...
By this time they were exhausted and my Triarii were fresh, also my re-grouped principes were throwing spears over the wall which eventually routed the gaestae... At which point i sent in my general to cut them down as quickly as possible because they still had about 30 men left in each unit...
And that's how an entire legion of mine was reduced to about 5 rag-tag units, at the hands of the naked immortals.![]()

BTW, does Baktria have access to Hetairoi units later in the game ? And their cataphracts are like Seleucid ones, only appearing after fighting agains Parthians?

numidean javelin men....theyre fast, have decent attacka nd defence, are in large numbers and throw damaging javelins... and they seem to absorb cavalry pretty well. and there really cheap!!
well i hate all phalanx units with very long spears.
btw where can i recruit warriors named "Voinu" those with blonde hair, spear and shield. From which provinces they come from????

The Caledonian Rhyfelwyr are horrible vicious people That never go down without a big fight.
I don't know if hate is a good word, they are fun to fight against, the Caledonians were supposed to be vicious and the mod represents them as vicious, I enjoy fighting against them, Though I would have liked it if Scotland had been loaded with wandering caledonian armies at the start to really make it clear why the Romans built Hadrians Wall.
Well, I especially hate the Ptolemaic light infantry, some Pankidrapos or smthg like that. They are so idiotically weak that they are crushed every now and then.
