Default Going down to San Antone

I'm going to San Antonio, TX next week for work. I know some members here are from Texas (or have been there) and I'm looking for fun places to go downtown. And I don't mean places with really good music and a rather...homogenous crowd. Any good microbrews in town? There's a free happy hour at the hotel so I may just pass out there instead of going out but I need a backup plan. Keep in mind I'm much more civilized when not posting on the internet. Any ideas?

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

Must concur with Proletariat - if your only visiting for the week and having to work, the Riverwalk is about your best bet. There are some really good restruants in town that fix authenic Mexico dishes, (not your average Tex-Mex fare you get at most), some are a little pricey though.

O well, seems like 'some' people decide to ruin a perfectly valid threat. Nice going guys... doc bean

I wish I could remember the name of the Irish-feeling piano pub that's on the Riverwalk where the pianist sings off the cuff and insulting tunes to the patrons. Damn good fun.

Yes the riverwalk is fun and if you are looking for a sports bar champions is great. The tower of the americas is also good (the resturant is amazing but it costs an arm and a leg). Historacly theres the alamo the mission trial and the witte muesum. the best burger joint would be longhorn cafe 5 minutes from my house then the Tex-Mex place is tomitoillios (SP). If you want real good mexican food go down to a street called zazamora keep following and find what looks like a house. It will be called mamacitias and it will be good

Prole is it: Dirty Nelly's Irish Pub thats the only one coming to miy mind

There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

SFTS and I are both from San Antonio and we'll both tell you, it's fantasitc. The river walk is great for the night, but you can find many other things to do downtown. If you wanted you could get either me or SFTS phone and we'll help you out. PM me if you want it...

Hope you have fun! I go to Alamo Heights High School and SFTS to Reagan High School, so if you hear those names you'll know it's us two...
