Thread: Non-official patch 1.2

    Default Non-official patch 1.2

I'm a new RTW player and was wondering if the non-official patch v1.2 would be recommended on top of 1.5.
Also the official page also has an updated export_descr_buildings. Would it be a good idea to copy it over too?

I hadn't realised the game was so buggy until I read the posts here. I once exit the game and found a 500Mb zombie which I had to kill manually.

I'm assuming you're talking about player1's unnoficial 1.2 community patch. I'd would say not to as I believe the 1.5 patch corrected everything that was in that patch, so in doing so you'd be doing more damage than good. although you can look around for a community patch for 1.5, theres not as many issues to be addressed that are softcoded.

are you looking for the official 1.2 patch? try searching google. 1.2 in my beliefs is better then 1.5 because diplomacy works

No I meant non-official as is the title of the thread.
I find it hard to believe that 1.5 is broken worse than 1.2. What exactly about diplomacy is botched?

I am not sure which unofficial patch you are talking about, but 1.3 fundamentally changed the textfiles, so I recommend against it. The files you would install lack information the game needs.

Also, while I haven't played 1.5 long, I don't understand why people would consider it inferior to 1.2. It improves the A.I., brings balance to the battlefield (no more light-cavalry rampages), removes the save-load problem that cripled stategic A.I. (and diplomacy! ). Yes, Roman factions behave somewhat quirky in relation to each other, but at least they don't withdraw and submit every time you reload the game.

As far as diplomacy in 1.2, it's an exploit you could use on the A.I. So if your looking for an easy game use 1.2 so you can bully the A.I. with diplomacy every time you load up the game. 1.5 patch is much better although with some bugs, you get better gameplay.

The patch is player1s bugfix 3.02 (not 1.2 which I mentioned incorrecty) found here

Bugfixer 3.02 is not for R:TW 1.2 but for R:TW 1.5 or BI 1.6. So the answer to your question is yes.
