    I remember seeing Lou Rawls on TV all the time in the '70s. Great singer.

    Lou certainly was cool and smooth. The thing I remember most about him was back in the late '70s or early 80's he sang the Star Spangled Banner at a major sporting event like the Super Bowl or World Series. His version just blew me away. I no longer remember what it was about the way he sang it, but I know I've heard no one come close to his version before or since.
