The report has emerged as Prescott comes under increasing pressure to start paying council tax on his grace and favour government apartment in Admiralty House, London. The Sunday Times revealed last month that Prescott was not required to pay council tax out of his own pocket on any of his three homes.

Still, I quite like him because he's a Northern politician and he is firmly at the left of New Labour. A lot of criticism made of him is blown out of all proportion. Many MPs who have residences in the North are allowed to take tax-empt second homes in the capital for obvious reasons. We don't even believe that allowing people to stuff as much money in their pockets as they can manage is a necessary consequence of an economic system which delivers the greatest wealth to society overall, although that would be a marginally less outrageous misrepresentation of the basic right of centre economic view.

Even if we did, this would be preferable, IMHO, to believing that you have the right to ram your hands in someone else's pocket and take out all the money that they worked to earn.

It was a Killer of a tax.
Basically its the council tax, except that instead of paying a tax on the house, Every individual in the house had to pay the same ammount.

Then they came allong and "abolished poll tax"
well they just changed its name and the payment method a little.

Yes Its called JOB SEEKERS allowance.
Aslong as Your ACTIVLY looking for work you get money.
If your not trying They stop your money. Simple as that.

Theres 2 JOB seekers allowance, "Income based" And "Contribution based"

People who Havent woked claim "income based"
They get the MINIMal amount of money the gov deems they need to live.

People who Work most of the time and then haft to stop in the winter exetera Claim,
"Contribution based" This means they are allocated money depending on the amount of taxes they payed so far.

There are other benafits which are given for other reason
Severe hard ship allowance is given to the homless.

Incapasaty benafit is given to the sick.

And each have there own set of rules.

And the chances are if you combine the "scroungers" together,
they pay more tax in the months they do work than you and yor family can scrape together in a life time,
becous usualy there spesialist jobs.
That can only be done a few months of the year Which also Pay And get Taxed Much more higly.

So dont talk about "Scroungers" Untill you have a clue what your on about.

The Poll Tax was a 'head' tax that almost nobody wanted, Tory or Labour. With its demise, the method of local taxation reverted to the old system of taxation of the whole household, albeit with a new name. It is not a Poll Tax, under that name or any other, however unpopular it may be.

Logical ???? replace a property service tax with an individual tax so the person with three big houses getting services pays the same as each of 3 people living in one room of a house .
PS . The poll tax was the 14th attempt during Maggies term to reform the Rates , and by far the worst . The legacy of its failures are one of the main reasons you lot over there are getting so screwed with the Council tax increases now .

Well the scoundrel has been forced into admitting using taxpayers money to pay his private bills.
