Personally, I use public transport and a bicycle, but that makes sense, to me anyway, as a city dweller. However, I can see that many other people need cars.

SUVs are not just an american phenomenon, they are multiplying at a tremendous rate here in Britain too. I have to laugh at the local housewives in their 'monster' vehicles dropping the kids at the nearby school and shopping at Tesco.
