Patch 1.6 vs. 1.5 vs. 1.3, oh my

I got BI as a gift a couple weeks back and was thinking about installing it, but as of now I'm a bit confused what patches I need to implement before starting.

I think I'm patched up to 1.3, but I'm unsure, so here's my questions:

1) How do I find out what patch I currently have? (I haven't played in about a year.)

2) If I install BI, do I need to patch up to 1.5 before installing 1.6? I think I'm at 1.3 currently.

3) I see that there are lots of bugs still floating around...should I wait a couple months before giving it a go!

1)If you had R: TW and installed BI over it, you now have 1.3 and 1.4.

2)I don't think it matters. You now have:

R: TW 1.3.
BI 1.4.

Install patch 1.5 or 1.6 to either upgrade Rome or Barbarian. I don't think it matters what's first. Personally, I installed the 1.5 patch first because I'm more of a RTW person, then I followed it with 1.6.

3)No, I don't think so. After all, they 'are' patches that does some really good work, and important changed to units (More in BI) just to balance some factions.

Just install the 1.6 patch. It will patch RTW to 1.5 automatically.
