Default Special "Missions" - feedback? (spoilers possibly)

Haven't heard if anyone has succeeded in doing any of the special missions in the game so far. There is at least one for: Romans, Pontos, Aedui, Epeiros, Seleukids, Makedon, and some similar elements can show up if you do certain things for Baktria or Pahlava.

Just wondering if anyone has succeeded in any of them.

But warning - don't read any further if you don't want to hear about anyone else's experiences with them.

Yeah the Baktrian independence script is working.. nice one. id imagine pontos / pahlav is somewhat similar. Working on getting triumph for roman general right now.

Is the "special mission" for Pontos the taking of the city in Crimaea (Chernonessos ?) in this case I think I have failed...when I get the message I planned to rescue these guys but when my fleet and my army were ready the Seleucids launched a big attack on me...so the operation was cancelled...it has been several years since I get the message so I don't know if I could try to make it now ?

What year is it in your game? You probably still have time, if you hurry!

Ah! the Generals! they are numerous, but not good for much (especially if they're Languorous)!

I don't know if this is a "mission" really, but it sure was a nice reward

RTW, 167 BC: Rome expels Greek philosophers after the Lex Fannia law is passed. This bans the effete and nasty Greek practice of 'philosophy' in favour of more manly, properly Roman pursuits that don't involve quite so much thinking.

I'm also curious as to whether anyone has had some success with olympic participants. No one has said much about that.

I always have horrible luck with mine. Embarassment after embarassment. I guess I've not tried getting my guys out in a battle or something after the first message that says they can participate. Maybe they won't wind up competing then.

I've gotten conqueror of Carthage and conqueror of the Galli (or something like that), but not been called Imperator yet, but that's mainly because I've already eliminated Arverni and Aedui and don't want a war with the powerful Sweboz, and the progress in Africa has slowed down. So I don't think the missions are too difficult (not too easy either), it's my playing style that has prevented me from pursuing them further.

It's 226, but now I can't to dit because I'm at war with Seleucids and Koinon Hellenon so I cannot afford to send an army far away...

I was really looking forward to winning, but...

Speaking of the Olympics, I'm 14 years or so into my KH campaign, and have yet to get a single message regarding this. I do have a couple of young generals sitting around, so I wonder if there are any other requirements?

They need to be "Vigorous" (very vigorous, actually), not under siege or sieging, with most of their movement remaining,

Yeah, I've noticed that too, and I'm hoping that when I'm finally at peace with the Seleukids I get some kind of special message too. But I'm locked in a permanent state of war with them since then, almost 30 years of continuous struggle ( that's something that annoys me a lot in RTW, sometimes you're smacking down the AI and only want to make peace with them, but they keep refusing it... )

I've not had any olympic general yet, but I guess with Baktria it'd be pretty difficult anyway.

Well, I was playing(and I am still playing) as Seleukids, and got a message, to rescue our allies from Kyrene, because the Ptolemaioi were attacking the city.

Sent a spy over there immediately, but I find out that it's a rebel city.

    Something else.

Well, I got a message "Strategos" to rescue the tomb of Megas Alexandros.
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.
