Thread: Where's my army?

    Default Where's my army?

    Hi,
started playing my first campaign as the Huns, thought shouldn't be too hard for starters.
Kicked out the Roxolani and Sarmatians. The Sarmatians kicked out the Goth. The Goth came after the ERE just to see that I was there already, thought better of it (I'm allied to them) and attacked WRE instead. Great, just like Billiard
Settled down in Constantinople and Thessaloniki, then went straight after Athens, also took the city south of Constantinople on Turkish land (can't remember the name now).
Constantinople was a bit unruly so I thought, what's the reason for that - Ah, there's one big church and state religin is pagan. Can't have that so burned it to the ground. Feeling all smug as a hun found that the population didn't like that. Not a bit. So you're not going to church on Sundays, you're all true believers? Bugger, no need to get all cranky now.
Anyway, a few riots later and it's starting to get quiter. Built a few spys, as I have enough armies in town. Strange, garrison shows only 5%? Must be a feature...
Next turn, all horde armies in all cities disappear as one. I get kicked out of Constantinople and have revolts all over the place in the other cities.
I thought that your horde armies go into the first three towns you settle in, but the ones you have inside the city as army stay? Apparently not.

Anyone else experienced that? Surely was a rude awakening for me...

I believe that when you settle in the first city you lose 50% of your horde units. The second takes 50% of what is left and the third takes the remainder. After settling three cities, you will not have any horde units left. This is why many people try to besiege three cities at once and time their fall so that all three are captured in one turn.

I think you lose one third of your total horde army with each settlement captured.

    TinCow,
remember now from the manual, should have remembered it when I took the third city that it would rob the other ones of the garrison.
You learn something new every day...

I'll file it away under 'experience'.

    "Where's my army ?"
    "Gone farming, sir."
"Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."
