Thread: Roman Civil War?

    Default Roman Civil War?

Is there any way to somehow launch the Romans into civil war? Through game editing, to the cheat console, or a gameplay strategy (spies or something?). I think I'm still a while away (currently 226bc) from the standard civil war trigger but a Roman civil war right now would be very interesting and relieve my western border (Scipii scum) alot.

Oh and to refresh my memory, when does the CW normally come?

Edit: Oh yeah, I also have an unrelated question. To save another thread. I'll post it here.

I am currently sieging the very last Parthian town, it is defended with one full stack. As a result I am sieging with two. However how do I make it so the AI is playing as the other stack, I only wish to control one. Sometimes when I am supposed to be playing as reinforcements, the reins do not come over the red line so i cant control them, why not?

First question: CW happens with you control x number of provinces (Which I don't remember) I guess.

Second question: Because you can't control more than 20 units at once, and if you do have space to control more units and you can't control your rein, then you're waiting for them to 'enter' the red line.

Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much."

In the pre-battle screen there should be a box and the picture of a computer nect to the "reinforcement" army, which given you a legend along the lines of "allow AI to control this army?" or thereabouts. Check the box. If the game feels like it, the stars are right and the computer doesn't hate the colour of your underwear, the checked army should be under AI control in the battle.

Given that the AI is the same dumb one that directs the comp's armies, I'd recommend having anything actually valuable or whose loss you might seriously regret in the stack *you* control...

I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

The number of provinces triggers it? Interesting, I never had the civil war opened by itself. I always started it myself. Just cancel the treaties with any of the other Roman factions and there you go. I haven´t tried whether that still works in 1.3 or 1.5, but in 1.2 it worked like a charm.

Yeah, the army I usually want it to control is a cheap diversionary force to pull some of the enemy units away from the part of ther city I'm attacking, usually made up of militia and other cheaper units.

Use an assassian to try and kill a spqr family member. It works trist me.
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

Does this still actually work in 1.5? Reason I ask is that I've had a couple of goes (as Julii) against the SPQR faction leader with the expected result (assassin fails and escapes/is killed) only the Senate seem quite content to overlook my blatant disloyalty! Its really irritating as I like to start the civil war on my terms...

Maybe triggers it for the Romans, not for you.
