Default Is this still going to be for Rome or Medieval 2?

Obviously we've just had the news of Medieval 2's development today. I was just wondering if WoT: Total War is going ahead as a Rome mod? I'm guessing the temptation must be there to hold out for Medieval 2's apparently superior abilities (the individual heraldry sounds like it could be great for a WoT game, but far better for a Song of Ice and Fire one) but on the other hand obviously that means massively delaying the mod.

I'm sure you will press ahead with the project as a Rome release, but I've lost track of the number of mods which seem to get near completion and are then 'reset' for the latest iteration of the game and work starts again from scractch and so forth. Don't want that to happen to this mod!

    Cheers.

    It's gonna be for Rome.
Medieval is not coming out so soon...

Twice dawns the day when his blood is shed.
Once for mourning, once for birth.
Red on black, the Dragon's blood stains the rock of Shayol Ghul.
In the Pit of Doom shall his blood free men from the shadow.

    It will be for Rome.

We'll do our best to get it out before MII comes out. If we fail, we'll release what we've done...

It's supposedly going to be out in October, but I guess only you guys can tell us if the mod will be done by then.

To be honest what I'd love to see for Medieval II would be a ASoIF mod. The new heraldry system alone seems to be screaming out to be dressed up in Lannister, Martell, Stark colours etc.

I agree Werthead, and the models would be so easy to reuse. Even if the wot mod was recreated for MTW 2 it would be easier considering the era of units in that game.

Then the Tai'chan would be the Pope if you made it for M2TW. :P

We dont know anything named Tai'chan. The closest word to what you sai would be Tain Shari which means true blood.
    Did you mean Shai'tan?

The Great Lord will win Tarmon Gai'dan, and you will be subject to the Great Lord's power, not even the Dragon Reborn can save you. And he will die like all those who oppose the Great Lord.

We have the Great Lord, for crying out loud. Even now he is at work subverting all who 'serve' the light. Come the final battle, 9.5/10 channelers will be serving him willingly, and all you'll have is a crazy man with one hand.

Why resist the power of the Great Lord? When we ll know ir is great and all powerful. You're foolish for resisting the Great Lord. When Tarmon Gai'dan comes, we all know the Great Lord will win.

Erm..... :( :( Um, people shouldn't resist the Great Lord, then stuff like this wouldn't happen.

considering that the arrival of WoT:TW is the only reason i would consider re-installing R:TW, i would object to it being ported to M2:TW......

MTW2 is probably christmas 2007, not so soon. All the artwork should be portable though. So I don't know. Myrddraal and team, you guys should post more updates...

Urm, don't you guys check the other threads?

Work on the mod has been indefinitely suspended due to a lack of time by the people doing it. Maybe they'll get back to it, maybe someone else will take over, maybe not.

Medieval 2 is scheduled for release in October 2006 and seems likely to make this release date, since it has been under development by the same team immdiately after they finished work on Medieval: The Viking Invasions (the Rome team was the same team who'd previously worked on Shogun). One team develops the 'evolutionary' games (as Medieval is based on the Shogun engine, and Medieval 2 is based on the Rome engine) and the other develops the 'revolutionary' engines (and yes that means the Shogun/Rome team is now working on the kick-ass Total War 3 engine which will take the series to the next level).

In other words, Medieval 2 has a strong chance of hitting its October release date. Although given that Rome slipped about 6 months when it was a couple of months away from its original date, I wouldn't be too surprised if it did slip.

I wanted to let everyone know that I am disappointed that development stopped on this module. I recommended a long time ago that instead of losing themselves in trying to make skins from scratch for every single monster that they take existing models and edit those. Then they could always come back later (if time permitted) and change them more or make new ones.

It sounded like they get lost trying to make everything from scratch. I bought this game a year ago because I thought you guys were going to make a Wheel of Time module for Rome Total War.

Oh well. I am just venting my frustration.

    What can I say...

I probably wanted this mod more than you?
Thats why i spent so long working on it...

Its not as if I'm telling you it was all a joke and you can just feel gutted, the jokes on me and I'm more gutted than anyone.

If anyone wants to continue this mod, I will freely hand over all the files.

Well, I fel i ha to defend Myrddraal here, and my self as well maybe. We did not do one single monster for this, that it stopped was lack of time. I had not the time, TurnLeft, Myrddraal had not the time and we were the ones doing most of the work. And I did not do models, so it wasn't just those that brought us down, but our real lifes.
