    Default General Game Engine Query

    Hi everyone!

With the recent official announcement of Medieval II:TW, and the fact that it will share Rome's basic engine in an enhanced form, I was wondering if model formats and such are generally the same within engines.

Essentially; will higher LOD models we make in the appropriate format for Rome now, be easily portable to MII:TW with the appropriate skeleton changes and such?

This is really a question about how game engines, which are common between games, compare. For example, are models in Quake III easily portable to Jedi Knight II, which uses the Q3 engine?

Sorry if the question is not easily answered and is asked to early, but I would really like to be able to have work continue on my mod's models and such without having to wait for MII:TW to be released in months and months :( .

    Thanks everyone,
    Ilsamir Lord

Afaik, file types don't change (or at least not much) within the same engine generation. It might be however, that it's different for the RTW engine, we honestly can't know yet.
But I think there's a good chance that we'll be able to use current models in MTWII

I think we will be able to, but personally they may look somewhat more basic compared to the ones ive seen in the screenshots of M2:TW...

We really can't answer this question until the game is released. Maybe try and ask the developers over at .com.
