Last night I saw the typical swearing again and the culprits being warned by other players to *cut it out or we'll lose the chat again*

But asa chat was opened, some players started arguing, telling racist or nazist remarks and some more. I think chat monitor should be more active.
I think it was problem in rtw chat - no one guarded it.

Okay I'm back from checking, ended up playing loads of games. The standards are so differents its unreal, I've been massacred, slaughtered but then again I also carried out my own exterminations in a couple of games.

I think there needs to be some sort of rating system on the games, or you give yourself a tag, perhaps you EARN yourself a tag 'Newbie', 'Getting the hang of it', 'Intermediate', 'Expert', 'God'. I hope to see something like this implemented in M2TW because I want to play somebody my ability. It's annoying when somebody (this happened earlier) sent elephants ONTO my phalanx head on, but then again I got flanked myself quite a few times. I tried the 'cheese' put phalanx in a square around archers, but I spread myself too thin and they broke throught the wall. Still, I wont do it again an so I'm only getting better.

I think I'm in the 'Getting the hang of it'/'Intermediate'.

Soverign I know what you mean. When I started MTW MP I always felt obligated to tell the hoster that I was a newbie. Without fail they said no problem and even helped me out. Now that I'm going to be playing RTW I'm hoping I get the same positive response.

There are more than a few MP clans I would call honorable and happy to try and help newbies get started. The MP side of the game is fairly deep with strategy and tactics, and mastering basic gameplay and tactics is a must if you wanna move from beginner to intermediate to good player to expert.

Lol, I'm sorry but that is just rediculous. Why turn it on then back off 24 hours later. I'm sorry but I hope they feel stupid. I understand they have reasons, but perhaps it may have improved, 24 hours is not long enough to see if it is being used well or not.

The chat turns on when the GameSpy server is rebooted. That's probably what happened, and it took CA 24 hours to get it turned back off.

As much as I respect CA's reasons for banning the chat, it still irritates me a lot. No players to play with, and no methods to arrange games with players you want to play with..

Well I think i am already improving quite a bit. After my first to encounter with 1vs1 where I got slaughtered, I returned to them today and fielded a nice balanced Seleucid army against a Julii army, my super cool cataphracts got into stationary fighting against his cavalry, meanwhile my silver legionaires and phalanxes battled it out against his cohorts. It was a dead lock between the infantry, however my cataphracts eventually after losts of pulling out and smashing back in won the cavalry battlem, so I then quickly set about sending the phracts into his remaining infantry from behind, it worked a treat!

I'm really loving MP :)

Also I've been winning a few 2.vs2s as well. Still marred by the odd massacre against a pro, but only making me better :)

Yeah, me and my clan have been experimenting today with the admins of the TWL rome ladder. Using a new ruleset that actually has allowed me to enjoy RTW mp more than i have for months :)

If anyone is interested in these ladders then you can find them at www.teamwarfare.com they are small at the moment but hopefully they`ll grow

P.S chat needs to be turned back on pronto, so what if people are swearing in there, i dont support that but you can simply use the ignore function

Yeah it is very fun, until you come up against the occassional arrogant fool. Take today, I was happily in a 1on1 siege, me being the attacker. I hit him with onagers, skirmishers and archers however he had like 5 onagers inside and was pounding me out, they took out quite a bit of my armies, not so much through his tactical skill but by the look that i was firing my onagers at his, in n attempt to knock them out, he then did the same and [by luck] took mine out very quickly. The door was open after an onager attack so I sent my javelin throwers to attack his phalnxes guarding the entrance, he replied by sending out cav, which i countered with my cav. After not alot happening except me occassionally taking out one of his pikemen with a javelin I got bored, so I through lthree rams at the walls (wooden wall) and attacked. I split his forces and it was fairly even. However I was the Romans, and when one of the gaps in the walls was bottlenecks a third of my army got slaughtered on the end of a pike, but I was doing fairly well in the other two gaps. But eventually it just wasn't enough as he brought the guys tht defeated me on one area over to assist other gaps, I was fought back and defeated. Fair enough well done him, but it even appeared on the results as something like 'close defeat'. So I was surprised and a little angered when the fool sent the following message: 'ha, u suk badly'. I had a nice reply all typed out, but remembering my CoH status I simply hit escape and left for the lobby. Moral: maske sure you dont get arrogant fools when playing mp.

When fighting phalanx face to face, their are too easy to kill, once you get close to them, I can tell you what you can simply do to slaughter them with an 'archer' unit, but I'd like you to figure it out yourself ;) (How can you get too close to their men?).

Anyway, a very good example you set amongest many of us, and I hope you keep the track. Btw: When do you play? So maybe I get to have a couple of games with you ;)

Sovereign you are so right. I also want these ratings and maybe a display of their record wins/losses. It would help the good players avoid a pointless waste of their time, and it would help me find someone to learn the ropes with.

Yeah its been back for a couple of days now. I didn't spot any 'abuse'.

Apart from one guy getting called a racist by one particular fool. All he said was 'what country are you all from?'.
