Thread: Greatest successes of the AI?

    Default Greatest successes of the AI?

    Name an instance you've seen of the AI, in vanilla, BI, or any mod, expand and prosper and even give you an unexpected run for you money.
    In other words, post stories of the AI acting smart!

    I'm in an H/H scipii campaign in vanilla, quite early, and Carthage has just moved a full stack of men out of nowhere to beseige a city I've just taken. After BI, it's so freaky seeing a full stack as opposed to a bunch of tiny ones. Maybe Carthage won't stay brilliant, but I'm still hoping against hope.

    I held a small town, wooden walls and was attacked by a horde. Usually the come in 2's or 3's and sequesntial, first one attacks then the other comes like 10 minutes into the fight...

    In my last campagne I was attacked by 4 armies of the horde at least, all having 2 or more rams attacking me from all sides.

    all I could do was form around the square and have 2 units per path to the square and 1 legion unit , 1 light cav and 2 generals in reserve to patch up the holes. I had 6 archer units closely around the square.

    I thought I was chanceless, but I think the fact that I was on a hill, had archers able to fire all directions and the fact they did not reach the hill from 4 sides on exactly the same time made me win....

    best fight ever..

    @Cras: What success is that!!

    @Hal: Don't worry, they're propable all weak units.. (I once had the same too with Scipii, 3 Hestatti and general killed them all).

Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much."

    Once, in my Sassanid campaign, I used the toggle_fow cheat. It appeared that the Alemannii had accumulated over 30 provinces! They were even threatening Constantinople ( later I even had to fight them at Athens ! ). They didn't win because they hadn't expanded south into the WRE. Instead of crossing the Rhine they went east, stomping Huns, Vandals and Sarmatians along the way. By ( a reverse ) domino effect I ultimately had to deal with a two stack Roxolanii horde invading from the Caucasus, although, since they only had two stacks, were easily defeated.

    Anyway, to put it short: the Alemanii actually had more provinces than me, and they would have won, had they expanded into Italy, taking Rome.
