Trouble running the mod

I apologize if this error has been addressed before, but it's driving me nuts. I followed all the installation instructions but when I boot the game up I get this message:

...and then it crashes to desktop. Any suggestions?

This could be just a bad install. Try downloading from a different mirror/link. If you have installed multiple times and it still has the same message, try checking what it says at line 623 in data/descr... text file, and post that.

The section of code in error, as far as I can tell:

faction_defeated_by_player
icon diplomacy
format use faction_defeated

Strange, thats the same as mine and it works fine. Those two lines after the first are indented right?

Right, it's all formatted correctly. I scanned through the datafile and couldn't find any other references to this item, so if the screw-up must be coming from a reference to this method in some other piece of code. Maybe it's spelled differently somewhere.

Is there maybe a patch I've missed or something?

I'll try reinstalling RTW (again), but the patch can't be reinstalled.

On the EB site under downloads you´ll find the 1.2-patch in a zipped folder. If you manually install this one it will correct your problems. At least it did for me. Good luck!

This happned to me to is there an easy way to get to line 623 other than count down to it. Also how do you uninstall the 1.2 patch. It dosn't go away if you just uninstall rtw

For all my text editing, I use a program called TextPad. It allows easy location of specific lines and columns.

Uninstalling RTW does actually uninstall the patch, but it leaves behind things in the registry. To get around it, download the 1.2 zipped patch from the EB website.

I didn´t remove the 1.2-patch that the installer said already was there. I MANUALLY installed/ replaced the files effected by the patch. See above adress for location.
