I wonder what people actually spend their time playing most of the time. I have the mod switcher on 1.2 install and a vanilla BI install, but i still spend almost all my TW time on RTR 6.3, and hardly ever play RTW/BI. I was just sort of interested in the relative popularity of different versions
To keep myself interested, I switch it around. I'll play a RTW campaign, then I went to BI, then to RTR. Now I'm mainly on Multiplayer.

Mainly Mundus Magnus for me. But as this only exists for RTW1.2 I might re-arrange my mod installs and go for an update to 1.5 (or 1.6

).
But I just love the huge map (= good for a slow gamer like me, as this will allow the AI to expand a lot too, so towards the end of a campaign I always have to fight strong enemies)
A link to this Mundus Magnus please, sounds interesting :)

I mostly play RTW SPQR. Will eventually get around to RTR 6.3
I play MTW/VI with VikingHorde's XL mod installed. Guaranteed to keep me entertained for quite a while--at least til Medieval 2 comes out, probably even longer.
cannon_fodder 19:40 01-30-2006
Nowadays, RTW vanilla. Used to play STW, mostly vanilla.

Sure

You'll notice that this is an old link. This mod is no longer "supported", and is for RTW 1.2 if I remember correctly.
Download Mundus Magnus

There were some issues with the stats of the Nubian spearmen's secondary weapon, so you might want to read the posts on page 3 in order to solve this problem. Or if it's too much of a hassle PM me and I'll send my txt file so you can replace yours.

EB at the moment.... I've actually been playing more Morrowind, trying to finish.
PseRamesses 11:39 01-31-2006
Warring through the civs of EB at the moment. Vanilla RTW was quickly replaced by the earlier RTR versions until BI which I grew tired of within 2 weeks. Went back to RTR 6.2 and re-installed withEB when it came out. I´m gonna stick with this one for a while now.
At the momwent I´m not playing RTW but building houses and lots, creating skins etc for my 12 yo daughters Sims-game, great fun! But being a hard-core TW-fan I know I´ll eventually will be sucked into its magic again ;)
Switching between RTW 1.2 and MTW XL.
RTW 1.5 and Barbarian Invasion 1.6, mostly multiplayer.
In an EB campaign with rome at the moment but suffering an intense war with the Makedonians and Getians. Very depressing at present due to my playing skills on the battlefield being a little rusty
RTR 6.3. (well i guess it`s 6.3., the latest one hopefully) & i love it...maybe i`ll try my luck with Bactria H7H this time......really looking forward to Blue Lotus & Chivalry if they come out!
RTR right now, but just done some BI PBMs and gave EB a long bash. So, really all three.
I like BI, but somehow it seems to lose lustre after the early game - I guess, it is just a relatively short campaign.
EB was mind-alteringly good, but unfortunately crashed to the desktop so often I had to give up.
I've gone back to RTR but found it a bit of a shock after BI and EB. My cavalry die like flies (even charging skirmishers in the back) and I just had a 3/4 stack army of Romans massacred by AI Gauls, of all things. The indignity. I evidently need to brush up my skills.
professorspatula 16:20 01-31-2006
I tend to play my own version of RTW and BI, modified vanilla version basically.

I have been playing a bit of Morrowind too recently, but I've decided life is too short to spend hours in a game just walking or running at a snail's pace just to deliver yet another loaf of bread or equally worthless trinket to some mindless 'AI' cardboard cut-out character again and again, stopping only briefly to point and click a few times and kill the 7000th overgrown and annoying bird that has got in my way. I'm going to burn my copy or sell it to some child on ebay who has yet to discover games like Pac-Man have about 500 times more enjoyable gameplay.

Morrowind Is HUGE, And moddable,
With the blood moon add on It becomes Even better,
It is Huge and would take you a life time to play And you probably never will finish it.
Its a Real RPG, And as such younger people would not wish to play it.
Not a childish fun game of mario.
Or simplistic skills of pack man.
The quests you speak of are purley side missions,
There is Much to do. in morrowind,
And i dont know of ANY 1 who has been able to do them all,
The game will never end,
and as such those of low attention span should not buy it.
Avarage morrowind game life =:" 1 life time "
Its the only RPG that will actualy mean you need to Give up on real life forever to finish it.
Played Mtw (Mainly Ntw, Atw and 1st Bkb version) until last month.
Now playing seriously Rtr v6.3 with Draknar mod pack v5.06 and Atilla's Invasio Barbarurum - Flagellum Dei v 4.0 (Since Yesterday already avaiable the v4.1 or gold edition).
Both mods manage to make enjoy a lot Rtw.
Also got last version of Bkb and Pike&musket v1.0 for Mtw, really 2 answome Tc's.
Besides those, used to play modded morrowind (Not the vanilla game, luckly I found it after Rhedd's face packs release) for last 3 years.
Was really hooked to that one, the only game that manage to disctract Me from it was Mtw and fthe one that finally make Me forget it is Rtr.

You never finish Morrowind, You can finish the main quests, the side ones but there are an amzing nr of mod quests that make it impossible to finish (In fact I played it for 3 years and only once I did the bloodmoon addon one, I spent all time modding or playing mods).
Nowadays, even with the modding community waiting for Oblivion, there are still great mods being released on a daily basis.
Trully the only pbl on Morrowind is to know wich mods should be downloaded.
With more then 10000 avaiable, it's indeed a hard choice.
So:

This is the bible of modded morrowind.

Is there much of a MP community still for shoggy?

I spent a year Making a disk world mod for morrowind.
I managed to finish ankmor pork,
Working from maps i had in Books i own,
And then i gave up.
I imagine it would have taken me 6-10 years to compleat the mod. Along with all the charicters from the book.
and giving them similar traits as the ones in the books.
i actualy managed to make a few of the wizards And the main city.
I think i have it on this pc some where.
maby il look at it again some time.

Yes but, 1 x Real Life Life time = 100,000 x 1 Lifetime spent playing Morrowind.
It's a bit like one of those massively multiplayer online RPGs, except without any socialising and the 14 year old boys thinking they're the greatest thing ever because they spend 100 hours a week playing the stupid game and hence have the Super-Shiny-Steel Chinguards that only the socially inept level 3234 players get, and that makes them better than people who actually have some kind of life outside their PC. But I shouldn't get preachy and this going off topic. I actually have both add-ons and did get quite into the game once, but the shallow and repetitive gameplay gradually ebbed away at my conscience until I had to stop playing it or throw myself into a canal.
Now MTW is a game with a hell of a lot going for it in terms of longevity. I must get back to that someday soon.

Unfortunatly we dont all get online at the same time.
When i ran my 1st tourny We had 8 contestants,
Since then more have joined the shogun comunity,
Others who would return to the shogun community have some problems,
Hopefully when we figure out how to fix those, The comunity will be exponentialy increased,
But we do manage to play quite often Mostly on week ends.
usualy 1 v 1 1 v 2 or 2v2
I have seen 3 v 3 and 4 v 4 played as well.
And ive seen more than 1
1v1 room up at 1ce,
There are alos STW players who Can play,
Some times apear in the foyer,
But then dont play. I have not been counting them as active mebers so there not in my aproximation of how many people play.
our little comunity is quite small,
But freindly and helpfull,
Also it seems to be growing almost by the day,
thanx to people directing others to my server.
I owe YoJimbo A thanx for Directing the newest member of our comunity to the server.
So thanx.
hope that answers your question.

I think it's one of the most popular MTW mods around, you'd do well to do give it a try.
I am now firmly fixed on my turn in a Seleucid (RTW, 1.5) PBeM. Very fun, my first try on the hard campaign difficulty (I usually play m/m), One town, Hatra, is getting sieged by the Armenians every turn lol, I almost have a full stack defending it.
