    Default Best superbowl commercial

Sometimes the comercials for the superbowl are better than the game itself. Companies make special comercials just for this game and its the most expensive airtime there is.

So far the Fed Ex commercial and the one with the guy killing the fly in the hospital were really good.

I'd say the one for "Mobile NFL" the "We did it the onld fashioned way, we used the internet" line had me laughing.
Honorable mention goes to the new United one for the art. And the Pebl ad with the meteor hitting the earth, getting tossed about and eroded into a phone, classy ad.

Cadillac Escalade nice music, nice photogrophy

Can someone explain to me how it's economical for ABC to have 1/4 of the advertisements be for their own shows?

The hidden Bud Lights were OK. I didn't like the Hummer and Burger King commercials. And was that the same actor that played Ugoff in the Outback Steakhouse ad? Also, the Toyota Hybrid ad with the man and child driving along tried to make them look Spanish or Mexican, but they looked and sounded Italian to me.

My favorite was the Mastercard commercial with MacGyver in it.

The Beer one (forget the name) when the guy had the hidden fringe.

The fly in the hospital was good too.

It was a pretty lame crop this year. The caveman Fed Ex commercial was probably the best. My son and I both got a good laugh out of it. The hidden Bud Lights was next best of the funny ones. The Escalade and PEBL commercials lead the pack for attention grabbing ads.

Others went to the well too many times. Let's retire the Miller(?) horses playing football. Let's retire all the animals that long to pull/ride the Budwieser Wagon. And PLEASE, make someone stop those stupid Go-somethingorother.com ads with the girl in the tight tee-shirt. It was stupid last year and it was stupid this year. However, the worst commercial of the night goes to the Buger King musical. BK hasn't had a decent ad campaign since 1964. The FDA should close down every BK just because their commercials are in such bad taste.

Okay, I was a little harsh above. ESPN.com has a page dedicated to the commercials: http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sport...bXLcommercials

There were more good ones than I recalled before having my memory jogged by the ESPN.com page. The Anheiser-Busch "touch football" was pretty good as were both Sprint commercials: "couch fire" and "locker room" ("theft deterent!" ).

FedEx in the time of Dinosaurs takes first place.

The sprint one in the locker room was good, as was the one with the couch fire.

The Sierra mist one with security was good.

The Ameriquest one with the doctors ("he's dead") was decent.

Busch's commercials featuring the touch football, secret fridge, and repairing the roofs were decent.

BK's commercial was utter crap until the end, which failed to redeem it.

    Slim pickings this year, overall.

THIS game is why I prefer College Football. This game had all the drama and intensity of a Lifetime (television for idiots) movie. Yikes. My apologies to all those Steeler and Seahawk and Bettis fans out there.

Back to topic, what a lousy crop! The streaker wasn't bad (but why was it dancing? ick), I thought the baby Clydesdale (yup... sp?) was cute (even if the ideas with the animals have been over done), and the fly was probably the best.

Worst commercials, H3 (I HATE those things anyway, funny to see them marketed as monstrosities), Burger King, anything for Disney, and the Diet Pepsi with P Doggy or doody or whatever he calls himself.

But the WORST by miles are those @#*$@#*(@#$*@#%&@!(*!(@$ Emerald Nuts commercials. I won't buy a single product from them, just because I cannot stand their ads. (By the way, it is the same for GAP and Old Navy).

Gregoshi that was pretty mean! Wanting to close every BK. But why is it that I agree with you? Thanks also for that link. Gave me lots more to despise!

I dont know, The bubbling brown diet pepsi commercial was pretty awful.

PS after hearing Whitney Huston and Mariah Careys renditions of the Star Spangled Banner this years effort by Aretha Franklin and Arron Neville was pretty lame. I expected more from the queen of soul.

Does anyone else have their mind go in the toilet (well, no pun intended... but you know) when they hear bubbly and brown?

Nope, can't say I do. Whilst connotations of the word brown might lead us to, among other thoughts, the bathroom, the meanings of the word bubbly promptly cut off such a line of discourse, as, in my experience at least, bubbly has no bathroom connotations in connection with brown.

I thought the Star Spangled Banner singing was sub-par, to be kind.

From what I heard on the radio this morning, the folks that rank the commercials have determined that the "Magic Fridge" was the most liked commercial.

The Pepsi commercials were pretty lame as usual. The only decent 5 seconds was in the Jackie Chan one, when the Diet Coke goes in as a stunt double. The Emerald Nuts commercial also has to be counted among the bad - what was its point? That druids eat them?

Regarding the National Anthem, I didn't think it was too bad - based on what I could hear of it. Aaron Neville's voice was barely audible. In fact, the on field audio was pretty bad for the Stones too. It did not sound like they were playing in a stadium. Mic Jagger actually looked better than he did 10 years ago, but Keith Richards looks like he's been dead for 3 years only his body doesn't know it yet.

Speaking of the performances, they are my biggest gripe about the Super Bowl (and the college bowl games for that matter). Here we have the biggest, most important game of the year, and the experts on hand each have about 1 minute to analyze the first half. It seems to me the game deserves more indepth analysis than that.

Sheesh, I've really been negative about the whole Super Bowl experience this year. Makes me wonder why I even watch it.

Are you still mad about the Iggles? Or TO? I'm kidding, but I was very negative about the whole thing myself. To be sure, I don't know how much analysis would have been needed for the first half of this game. "Both teams played crappy" covers it doesn't it?

    ???

Isn't that the commercial where the guy doesn't want to share the Emerald Nuts with his little girl so he tells her things like "If little girls eat Emerald nuts, unicorns will disappear forever and the Easter Bunny will get 'whacked'?"

I though that one was pretty funny.

I'm sorry I didn't get to watch, but there was no way i was going to miss the Minnesota national Curling Finals.

The half-time show featured the Lake Woebegon Highschool marching band with a tremendous finale by the Schmenge Brothers--Yosh and Stan. Their version of Beer Barrel Polka will haunt me forever

There were also some great commercials. My favorite was the one for Knudson's Cheese Curds. By Jiminy, it was a real knee slapper.

The sad thing is, I would honestly rather watch curling than the Superbowl, not to mention any NFL game. However, I ended up watching "Up in Smoke" instead.
