Default Incredible Discoveries in New Guinea!!!

    http://news.independent.co.uk/enviro...icle343740.ece
All I can say is wow!!! Just thought I'd change the subject from rioting cartoon critiques and bring in some great news.
What I found interesting was the discovery of a egg laying mammal, much like the plattypuss. I cannot wait for the pctures to come out.
Does anyone have any other articles about this find?
    RIP Tosa

Let's take some of them for research projects, and ship the rest to the zoos and terrariums of the West

Awesome. The discoveries have just started, so more unique species may appear with time.

    Runes for good luck:

Exxon is sponsoring the next team of ornithologists. They want to look for the rare oily throated tar-faced warbler, a species known to inhabit old growth jungles having crude oil below.

    More true then you know.

I've worked on the equator in Borneo's jungles and in the mountain jungles of Sumatra... looking for gold.

Has it occurred to anyone that these scientists might be bringing in microbes that are lethal to these animals?

Always look where the money is...

Hopefully they won't find any oil. Be nice to have at least one area with pretty animals and nothing else of any value.

In my pharmocology short block (50 minute class, all others are 1.5 hours, usually a joke) we talked about that a bit. If the scientists know what they're doing they should have looked into that already, but that is certainly a great concern.
