What was the first console you ever owned, and why did you like (or hate) it?
The first thing I had was a Sega Genesis, liked it very much, because cartridges were generally cheap.

"Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it's just the opposite." - John Kenneth Galbraith
i had one of those silly little orange things with Pong and some other games on it,
But my 1st real console has to be the
Atari 2600.
Loved it.
brought the arcade to my home.
Millipeed.
moon patroll.
space invaders
asteroids.
All classics.
Cant bad-mouth the 2600.
Then i got a NES.
Kicked ass.
MANY GREAT Games,
And the atari 2600 was religated to a box.
Then the SNES (called the Super fanicom some places.)
This lil console changed the face of the world.
With games like.
Street fighter 2.
super Punchout.
FINAL FANTASY!
Also saw the release of populous the 1st god like rts
and super mario world / all stars.
Cant shake a stick at that.
Then i got a playstation 1 Cos the N64 Sucked something serious.
Resident evil, (ground breaking)
bushido blade
Final fantasy
and Ridge racer.
Formed the next gen console standard.
I then bought a Ps2.
GTA 3 - SA Great.
And i could still play my fave ps1 games
Il probably get one of those new fangled x-box 360 jobbys next.
But in all honesty.
I can play all the games from all the consoles i just mentioned, on my pc. Using a playstation controller.
So dont really need a console these days.
But its something to do when my pc's are being defraged exetera for maintanace,

The NES. Never could beat any of the games though.![]()
If you havin' skyrim problems I feel bad for you son.. I dodged 99 arrows but my knee took one.
VENI, VIDI, NATES CALCE CONCIDI
I came, I saw, I kicked ass
My first encounter with consoles was my cousins 2600 but the first I owned was a NES.
Playing games was such a simple affair back in those days. How could I not love it.
The First console we ever had was my dad's Atari 7800 that he bought during the seventies. Then when I was about 3 we got an NES, I was sooo jacked about it, and my older brother nearly had fainted from excitement.
Atari 2600, then NES, then PC. Never been back to console since.
Nintendo 64. The games on that system were so good that I actually quit playing videogames for a year or so because I was convinced nothing would ever be able to top it.
Sega Mega Drive, we were a poor family I had to wait till I got a paper round before I could buy it.
I had the Atari Consoles, then a C64, then an Amiga 500, since then a PC.
I did have a Nintendo Playstation for a few weeks. A friend and me used to play Street Fighter on it. He looked a bit like Blanka and impersonated him well while I took the Indian Guy who could stretch and teleport. I remember that we laughed for hours with tears running down our cheecks while playing.![]()
Whoah, it still hurts my sides to think back.

I'll build a mountain of corpses - Ogami Itto, Lone Wolf & Cub
Sometimes standing up for your friends means killing a whole lot of people - Sin City, by Frank Miller
First game I ever played was on my cousin's SNES, first console I ever owned was the Sega Megadrive. Sonic 2 and Vectorman rocked, still go back to them every few months.
After which I got an N64 with GoldenEye (in my opinion one of the finest FPS games on any system - console or PC). Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is less a game and more an adventure (got it again off Ebay before Christmas and am currently playing it, last time I played it I had borrowed it off the same cousin that introduced me to gaming), I also have the sequal, Majora's Mask which is almost as good. Not to mention Perfect Dark (only thing keeping it from topping GoldenEye in my books is that you are not James Bond), and Lylat Wars (a great flying shooter, sequel to StarWing on the SNES).
I then got a Sony Playstation and have Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX on it as well as MetalGear Solid (the best in the series in my opinion).
Finally I got the Nintendo GameCube. Super Smash Brothers Melee is an excellent beat-em-up. Pikmin is a great RTS and is extremely different from any other RTS on the market, one of the best around. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 2 - Rogue Leader is a brilliant Star Wars game, one of the best if not the best Star wars games out there. I love defending Hoth, seeing the hundreds of troops fighting it out below as I fly past them and keeping the hundreds of TIE fighters off the capital ships during the battle of Endor.
My first console was ColecoVision. I sure loved that thing. Too bad they aren't still a player today. "Mouse Trap" = ultimate version of PacMan. Although "Lady Bug" was quite a good PacMan offshoot as well.
I think I clicked the wrong one. I was a little distracted. Anyway, I had one of the Atari's, I suppose. Well, my parents had it. But during a move the van had its top ripped off in a rain-storm. And all the games were lost. Personally, my first console was a used N64 right before the PS2 came out. Yup, I was late. But I played war games (table tops) when I was little.
