    Default Finding people...

This isn't exactly controversial or political (although I could make it that way if you'd like). I'm trying to track down some former neighbors of ours who moved back home to Germany (Stuttgart area, Ludwigsburg exactly) and I have no idea how to look up addresses in Germany. In the US, we have Switchboard & Anywho. Are there any similar websites in Germany where you could punch in somebody's full name and get a listing of people? I know, I know, why am I posting this here... well, most of the German folks I see on the board I find in the Backroom, not the Frontroom. If it belongs there, I guess you guys can move it. While I'm at it, anybody here work for Mann-Hummel or know somebody who does? Or, at the very least, work in Ludwigsburg area? Maybe you could even tell me the state/province/region/(whatever Germany calls the regional political division) that Ludwigsburg is in?

    Danke schön.

Well, I'm not German, but I can tell you that Ludwisburg is in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg (which includes Goeppingen, where I was stationed, in a different life). To locate an employee, I guess I'd contact the HR bureau of the company.

You might try the database of the Telekom:

    Telekom

Unfortunately there does not seem to be an English version...

On the middle of the page click on "Das Telefonbuch"

A new window with a menu opens, I suggest clicking on "Profimodus" (below the pink "Finder"-button on the left)

In the new menu enter the lastname in the "Name"-field (top left), the firstname in the "Vorname"-field (top middle) and the city in the "Ort"-field (top right).

Then click on the pink "Finden" button on the bottom left of the page.

A list of cities with the name you entered appears - yours is probably the very first one. Mark it and click on "in markierten Orten finden" (bottom right).

A list of database entries, often with address, appears - hopefully the friend you are looking for is on the list.

    Good luck
