While it may be visually impressive, special effects do not a movie make. The plot is straight up retarded. Ugh, does Snyder know what the concept of a plot is? You know, like a story? Hell, I wouldn't have minded if it was a slightly original in any way or maybe had a proper script or made sense and was consistent with proper themes and concepts. But no, it was essentially every video game and anime splattered onto a screen. Watching aspergers girl "perform" with her friends in a 13 year old boy's fantasy world was quite literally brainless.

The butchering of good songs -- obnoxious cover-songs that are horrible versions of the originals. UGH, LAYERS UPON LAYERS OF TERRIBLE MUSIC. Ugh, they butchered Where is My Mind and Search and Destroy!!

Sucker Punch can be summed up as basically well produced soft-core pr0n.
I agree that the plot made no sense, but if you look at it from the point of view of the target audience, as well as the kind of movie it was trying to be, I think it was fairly successful. Marketed mainly to teenagers/young adults, filled with scantily clad chicks doing badass stuff with machine guns and swords and explosive stuff. and it really was going for the non-sensical action packed sort of feel, which it did well, with some chicks rolled into it.

From a critics POV, it was horrible. From the POV of the target audience who love this sort of stuff, it was awesome. I personally went into it expecting an orgy of violence and minimum amount of clothing, and was not dissapointed.

it was marketed for nerdy teens. It didnt appeal as a whole to teenage audiences. It was a cult film for anime and video game lovers.

That seems rather odd considering that lots of really popular guys at my school saw and liked it. They are certainly not video game or anime lovers.

    teenage boys because well duh.

anime and video game loving boys because to be honest i dont see the movie appealing to say anyone born before 1980.

Yeah the dragon of course helped... Why they decided to light that thing that woke him up right above him is beyond me though...

B_Ray I understand what the plot was trying to portray but it didn't fit... and the greatest was the appearance of the bus driver in the end.

Let's not forget it also has nazi-zombies. It is my humble opinion that the short-heared blonde has the best butt by the way, overall hotness award goes to the brunette (not the sister) with her taunting look rrrrrrrrrrr

Just saw Sucker Punch. It was ok, good action, ok story line.
But I have to wonder, if Babydoll was the one dancing, what were the other girls doing? Dancing along with her?
And I think Sweet Pea is the hottest, btw.

Sucker Punch: Since when does devling into a character's warped psych make a retarded plot? The plot wasn't spectacular but it was decent considering this was just supposed to be another popcorn summer blockbuster. And why are you gonna bring up the different action sequences as part of the plot? The day dreams were necessary for the character's self-delusion so she could cope with her situation, beyond that it doesn't matter how ridiculous the action was, and arguably, that was the whole point: Over-the-top stupid action day dreams that helped her deal.

So I'm guessing when you have daydreams you're just sitting in a cafe chit-chatting it up with intellectual friends? Thanks, but I do that in real-life. My daydreams consist of AKs and RPGs, and since this movie reflected that, actually makes it realistic, because that's exactly what the action sequences were: frikkin daydreams.

As for the bus driver at the end: The main character(can't remember name) is who's head we're in. She never saw the outside world after helping her friend escape, that's just another fantasy she pulled from thin air.

Makes no sense. By that point we're well out of the main character's head. We've seen her lobotomy and the "real" effects of her actions in that asylum.
Then we see her friend going for the bus. That's not going on in Baby Doll's head anymore.

Why am I even arguing about that?

    And yes, a little long/slow.

El Capitan Americano. Average at best. Not particularly compelling, with ordinary acting (even Hugo Weaving wasn't great with a bad fake German accent). Would not recommend, unless you are a hardcore Marvel comic fan.

Captain America: While I found the movie to be 'okay' overall, I agree about the acting not being all that great. Throughout the movie I was not convinced of anything the actors were supposed to be portraying. Also, I kinda felt that the multi-ethnic spin is actually damaging. How do we learn from our mistakes if we pretend like we never made them?

I've watched Suckerpunch because apparently all the cool kids here have watched it and I didn't want to feel left out.

Frag, I have a high opinion of you and I trust your judgment blindly but I think we didn't watch the same movie. I wouldn't say it was a bad film but it didn't live up to it's ambition and it wasn't ambitious at all to begin with. If you're going to go over the top in a make-believe setting then at least go all out. What we got was a fake blond swaying her hips and a lot of repetition. Everything in that movie was based on a formula and no one took the trouble to hide it.
(example: every 'mission' had a briefing with a last thing, action, initial success, a last minute obstacle to overcome and eventually success).

Last but not least there were 2 other things that got on my nerves:
    1) Every cover used was inferior to the original music.
    2) They had to stick a morale at the end of the movie. Since when does a dumb action movie with about 1 cubic feet worth of clothing need a morale?

I expected it to be a swirling vortex of awesome and madness not a film it by numbers. I'm disapointed because of what could've been.

Watched Bridge to Terabithia again and I really enjoyed it even though this is my fourth time probably. I planned not to watch the end but couldn't stop and it was very moving.

The Exorsism of Amily Rose. You probably won't find it on anyone's list, but I wouldn't know how this movie could have been any better than it is. Cool mix of horror and court-chess. As it is it and for what it is it's perfect, the casting is excellent (give the girl playing Amily an oscar and send her here afterwards thx), pacing is excellent, script is good, don't remember being annoyed by anything really.
