    Default Battle Speeches

In MTW I really appreciated, that at least, there were three different languages, spoken by the generals of the different religions, like the chargecry of the muslims ("hucum"). Also the battle speeches, the screaming of the soldiers, almost the overall sound during battle seemed to be much more authentic than in RTW to my ears. What do you think about this, and do you think/wish, that they will include different languages for the different factions in MTW II? Is this realizable or do they have their reasons, not to do so?

What I didn't like about MTW was that it had the Byzantines speaking Russian. As to the "sound of battle" I think maybe it was better in MTW.

What I would like is Pre-Battle Speeches like in RTW 1.2.

Why did those get cut from 1.3 anyway?

Very true, they didn't cut the speeches out.
There were no new speeches for BI but in RTW they are still there and working.

So what do you think more likely, speeches actually in French and German and so on, or the speeches in english with a dodgy French or German or wahtever accent (ass appropriate)?

I'd like to see someone speaking Arabic for sure.. (I don't know what other cultures spoke by that time, but it would be nice to hear them in different languages/accents).

Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much."

Yeah, why not? Speeches in the actual foreign languages, with subtitles of course.

    Not likely to happen though...

It was great in STW that you could choose beetwen english and japanese voice. With this little option they threw a lot on the gamefeeling. This time it would mean a bit more work, but it would worth it, it's a cert..

Didn't skipping prebattle speeches lead to a negative trait? I'm fairly certain I skipped a speech once and later found out my general "sucks at giving speeches" or some similar trait.

Meaning we had to listen to the stuff to avoid a negative trait. A strictly fair idea in theory, rather foolish and annoying in practice.

Less battle speeches for sure, especially now alexander has put the idea of negative traits into my head.

Less speeches more battle cries and orders on field and before battle commences hearing your troops singing nationalistic or even biggoted tunes is enough to get your blood pumping before the battle.

    More variety in less categories.

I think you're all taking this way too seriously. The accents of the Romans in Rome sounded more Australian or even Devonshire than American. The Centuriam definately sounded like a Russel Crows inpersonator.

The speeches should be in English. Why? They are there to entertain, not to be historically accurate. I like historical accuracy but up to a point. The pre-battle speeches are about history they're about fun and they should be in whatever language the game is in, otherwise the humour will be lost.
