Actually, I believe that was a reference to the Avingon Papacy, at which point the Avingon pope declared the Rome papacy null and void, which technically means that the pope lived in France... but then again, at the same time, the Italian Cardinals elected their own pope in Rome and declared the Avingon papacy null and void, which means the pope didn't live in France... so...

I had to use the present tence, because 'Did the Pope ever live in France?' would be obvious. 'Does the Pope live in France,' implies maybe, cause one did, but doesn't currently. That's not realy legitimate logic obviously, but hey
