KH starts with three provinces: Sparte, Athenai and Rhodes. Why can´t I build a "kleourchia..." in Athenai? Since I can build them even in Sardike, far north, it seems silly that I can´t build it in one of my starting provinces. Or is there some histoical consideration that I´m overlooking that makes this impossible?

IIRC, the KH goverment system is different than the other.

Type II is the main type ... they represent your typical Hellenic City State. Type I is the secondary (and with concern to buildings, inferior) type of goverment. The Type I represents the Spartan Agoge training (or in general, Spartan style training), which you can insitute in certain cities to provide you with elite units.

In OB, Type I doesn't allow any recruitment (at least in the cities I had, and I never really got them to top tier). So, Type II is the way to go with the KH. You get more units, you can build everything ... at least until we get some units for Type I in one of the patches.

Athena, having a long tradition of democracy is unlikely to accept such a Spartan type of goverment (that is, they do not have the Type I goverment resource).

There are some building restrictions for KH type1 provinces even for the highest buildings. Like theaters. Type1 hopefully will be even more different in later releases, and it will get you better units and spartans too, but type2 is a very good choice still and gets you most everything else for KH.

Hmm, I do wish I could find the time to help you guys write the EB tech-tree for each faction, it´s sorley needed. As for now it´s a lot of trial and error.

Thx for the input Keba.

Will some type I units (like Spartans!) be in the next patch?

As the announcement khelvan made a couple of days ago stated - this will be a patch, not a repacking. A repacking, which is what is needed for any new units and building graphics, will have to be a totally new release of the mod. But hopefully that won't be much longer either.

As for the status of the spartans, it is not currently ready, but I do believe it's finally gotten to the point on the list where it's being worked on now. We had discussions on it just a couple of days ago. There were so many other units in front of it in line after all.

"so many other units"

WOOHOO!!!

quick question: if the eventual "repacking" will be a totally new release, should I be keeping an unmodded 1.2 on my pc?

Hmmm. I don't know the answer there 100%, but I would think it would just replace files we have changed. So unless you've done some modding, I would think your current EB version could just be replaced. I do keep an unmodded 1.2 spare always, but I have to.

Theoretically, a full install of EB can be made over previous versions of EB.

However, in practice, we have had numerous problems internally with this. I have no idea why, because as you note, the versions should completely overwrite each other. It has been my practice to ask our internal testers to re-install EB from a fresh copy of RTW w/1.2 patch. I recommend this for all open beta testers as well.
