    Default The Music Discussion Thread

As a musician (Keith Moon Wannabe ) I have many discussions about music with all my friends, and I thought we could have the same here. Nothing like "Your music is **** and it should be banned" etc, but to discuss the finer points to music.
As the starter of the thread i feel like I should go first, Music Stereotypes; I'm talking about when people say "you listen to Rock so you must be Goth" etc Why do people judge others by the music they listen to?

P.S i'm not sure if this belongs in the frontroom or backroom, i dont want it to get nasty but it could get heated when different tastes clash. So please can we keep it civil.
    When I was a child
    I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
    The child is grown,
    The dream is gone.
    I have become comfortably numb...

Well, different people are "attracted" to different sorts of music.
I don`t know exactly why, but you can find out what persons are like if you know what sort of music they listen to.

Speaking of which I listen very little to music, so good luck.
    Runes for good luck:

    True story:

I was visiting the in-laws in Wisconsin. Decided that I would do everything rural and Wsconsin-y that I couldn't do in Brooklyn. Cross-country skiing, ice fishing, everything. The wife's younger brother had a snowmobile, and I wanted to take a ride, but I didn't know the trails, so one of his little stoner friends offered to give me the tour.

He shows up on a gleaming Polaris showmobile, brand new from the look of it. I was mounted on a burned-out wreck with no shocks. The kid sized me up, and decided to show the old man a thing or two. So he took me out on a really difficult trail at high speeds. The only way I could preserve the family jewels was to stay in a half-crouch the whole time. Finally, the kid must have decided I was okay.

We stopped for a bit. He sized me up. He was at that age where there are Outkast people and Shakira people, and never the twain shall meet. So he's looking at me, and I can hear the little gears turning in his head. Older guy. Big black leather coat. Tougher than I thought at first. How does he add up?

"So," the kid finally said, "you like Nine Inch Nails?"

    "Yeah," I responded, "they're allright."

It was confirmed. The old dude in the leather coat was a Nine Inch Nails person.

"Uh-huh, they're alright," the stoner kid said.

I thought it was darn funny.

Seems to me like that kid is a real wannabe. God I hate people like that.

BTW, I a huge NIN fan, so the "they're alright" part is almost offensive to me, but oh well, we all have our tastes, and Gorebags is crappy.
