    Default Best Skynyrd Song

What do you think the best Skynyrd song is!!!!!!!

BE A SIMPLE KIND OF MAN
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

    If I leave here tomorrow
    Would you still remember me?
For I must be travelling on, now,
'Cause there's too many places I've got to see.
But, if I stayed here with you, girl,
Things just couldn't be the same.
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now,
And this bird you can not change.
    Lord knows, I can't change.

Bye, bye, its been a sweet love.
Though this feeling I can't change.
But please don't take it badly,
'Cause Lord knows I'm to blame.
But, if I stayed here with you girl,
Things just couldn't be the same.
Cause I'm as free as a bird now,
And this bird you'll never change.
And this bird you can not change.
    Lord knows, I can't change.
Lord help me, I can't change.

2nd best is probably Simple Man, then Travelin Man, then Tuesday's Gone.

    Why do you hate Freedom?

    Freebird! Freebird! Freebird!

    Go southern Rock!
    When I was a child
    I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
    The child is grown,
    The dream is gone.
    I have become comfortably numb...

    Best song is 'Travellin man'

Check out the 'Lyve from Steel Town CD/DVD...Johnnie sings the first verse and then Ronnie (on the screen) sings the second....very emotional...

Simple Man has the best message, but I think Sweet Home is the best song listed. Free Bird has always been a personal favorite. We used to jam it to death in every garage band I was in, back in the late 70s-early 80s.

I actually met Billy Powell (Skynyrd's keyboardist) at a Christian music festival in Kitchener, Canada. He was playing in a band called Vision at the time (1986). He's a cool dude.

Like most people who feel that music that sounds alot like country is unitersting, I only know Sweet Home Alabama, so I might as well vote for that.

I always liked Gimmie Three Steps as the most fun. But, the Best Song Title has to go to "FreeBird".

Someone once told me that while at a Styx concert the crowd was yelling for Freebird. Unfortunately is showed disrespect to Styx but also just how popular FreeBird was.
