    Hi guys. If any of you have ever played as celts you will know that they dont really have a backbone infantry unit that will hold a battleline as pict spearman are too lightweight and gallowglasses just dont seem like common units.

    So what I want to do is give the celts a Sword armed unit called a Celtic Swordsman.

    The way i want to do this is by taking the Gaul Swordsman from Vanilla RTW and putting in BI as a celt unit and then reskinning it to look unique.

    I know how to do some of this...the things i dont know how to do and I was hoping you could help me with are:

    1.how to put the gaul swordsman into BI
    2.how to make a new unit card
    3.where the "skin" is so i can edit it and also do i need some plugin for photoshop to do this?

    But if its possible Id like to use the celtic slingers skin as it has a celtic head but i dont know if i can reskin this units trousers and chest and still keep the head and use it for my sword unit?

    If anyone can help with any of this I'd be very grateful.

    Well ive done it by using a sword heerban now.

    I need to ask though does adding new units affect my ability to play online!?

    Yes. Any change with export_desc_units.txt will make you incompatible with others not having the same file. Also with desc_model_battle.txt I think.

    Always make back-ups of any file you change.

    celtic swordsmen huh? did u get them to work? how do they look? so did u just want swordsmen in the army that also wielded shields? or was is more that u didnt really like using the picts and the gallows together?
    i use gallows alot more myself, they are very bloody indeed against infantry, picts are good to use as if they were peasants, just with the obvious better results. peasants are just terrible, they're just fun to kill.
    i did a similar experiment to what u are going for with celtic armies, but it was nothing too special really, i just enabled woad warriors to be in the celtic armies, they carry swords and shields, and i do like the warcry ability, woads are cool, celtics have a strange enough army selection so i of course wanted to make it even stranger with the risk of making them better or worse.

    lol well i just felt that gallowglasses were like an elite unit as they just look so cool and i thought as spearmen are so weak that the celts needed a "backbone" infantry unit. Ive also given them a new unit called Clansmen Infantry which is based on the noble clansmen and looks pretty cool.

    Hey can you help me?

    Ive tried adding the Woad Warrior to the celts but as the map is loading i get a "filename doesnt exist" messge then one about Bufferd vertexes and 6 undestroyed items?

    Can anyone help?

    I dont it by moving all the Woad Warriors files to BI and changing directory names and stuff until it was alrite but i done something wrong...

    yeah, u left them out of one of the files, probably the descr_unit_enums or whatever its called, i'll give it a look when i get home, and i'll tell u the steps, mine still have the briton colors, but they work, i dont know much about modding the descr_model_battle file, still working on it, but i'll post the steps...the old guide for adding units is in the forum, its big help...its in the scriptorium somewhere.
    i'll post how i do it later, its easy enough, u just have to not make typos and such, dont have the folders here with me on this computer. need to look at them because i dont wanna type them all wrong. other than the color differences, they work fine, i made the shrine of morrigan or whatever produce the woads for celts, the other 2 shrines produce the druids and berserker guys.

    If you could post the steps that would be great i tryed to follow the guide in the scriptorium but it was a bit confusing and i got a ctd at start up.
