Thanks for the timely feedback guys.
Let the research begin!!!![]()
uh... wait a second... exactly what effect on the game are we talking in regards to these "unique bldgs"? I will poke around the game and see what we have so far. The only thing that I've spotted so far is in Iberia (I don't get out much) It is "the western most tip of the world"
can anyone give me some examples?![]()
Thanks again to all and...

Well, if you want to see all the unique buildings already in the game go to your data/text/export_buildings.txt and search for, "UNIQUE BUILDINGS BELOW THIS LINE". The descrips are not the updated ones, and unfortunately, when I looked through it I didn't see the exact benefits they produced. I don't know if thats what you were looking for or if you were refering to Iberian-specific uniqe buildings and examples. Post if you have more questions or if I didn't answer correctly.

Ok, Thanks for all the feedback guys.
Kull, I see what you mean when you say that you were looking at NATURAL WONDERS. Not alot of UNIQUE BLDGS from that part of the world in that time frame.
Could you do me a favor and pass this on through to the faction head/leader dude?
Preliminary research reveals the following buildings...
Herakleion - The temple of Melkart near Cadiz. The first great temple in Spain. Without doubt of Phonecian origin, it is/was located just 18 km from Gadir/Cadiz on a small Island. It is remarkably similiar to King Solomon's Temple (dated 961-922BC). Of course this temple is not as old as that... or is it? No known references or archelogical proof exist before 700 bc. But it is thought that Gadir MAY have been founded around 1100 bc, and thus the temple COULD be older then 700 bc.
In terms of the game's time frame, classical writers (Greek and Roman) describe the temple. In Caesar's time, the rituals performed there were still Phoenican in stlye and content.
( Sidenote: Melkart was a particularily strong cult in Tyre. He was the protector of mariners and merchants and by 600 bc was indentified by the Greeks with Herakles)
Of course there is more about the temple but that can be filled in if this makes the cut.
Gadir was also home to 2 more major temples... but we know next to nothing about these.
Of Iberian shrines there are three of note,
i.e.
The sanctuaries at the (1) Collado de los Jardines and at (2)Castellar de Santisteban both located in the province of Jaen. The sanctuary at (3)Nuestra Senora de Luz by the city of Murcia. These sites were a place of worship for perhaps 100's if not 1,000's of yrs. Together the three account for nearly 6,000 bronze figurines (called "ex votos"). There are some 30 other locations (sanctuaries) in Spain that have such bronze figurines, but only as individual pieces. These three sanctuaries are remarkable due to the apparent heavy concentration of worship that occured here. Although likely Punic and Greek influenced, they do seem to be native Iberian.
There is an interesting sanctuary of note found at El Cigarralejo (in Murcia) that seemed centered around the worship of the horse. Close to 200 stone sculptures of horses but only 15 sculptures of humans have been found. This sanctuary caught my attention and imagination, perhaps it will be of interest to others?
Finally there is the site at Cancho Roano - which is truly a remarkable find. Surely this is an example of a "unique bldg"? Kull supplies a nifty link to the website in his previous replies.
Well that is all i have for now in regards to some preliminary research on unique bldgs. I am going to look into more natural wondersand see what I can dredge up.
Let me know if this is at all what you are looking for or perhaps I should be focusing in another direction.
As always,
