    Default Hello

    Hello everyone and cool site...
I bought Medieval Total War after Christmas and finally installed it a few weeks ago. Pretty interesting game with cool battle scenes. Nothing like killing an enemy general and reducing moral of the opponent.

Need some help (didn't know if I could double post) but was curious at Medieval TW-1.

When a king or prince (leader) of a knight unit gets down to 1, 2, or less than say 5 or 10 knights, is there anyway to 'replenish' the ranks back up to 20?

Thanks in advance and I apologize if this shouldn't have been a 'double post' (ie introduction and a question about a game).

    Welcome.
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

Cant you just re-train the unit? Or does that not work with princes and kings?

    Welcome to the Org!

I believe you can retrain princes and kings. I think I remember retraining one so he would be upgraded from a unit of Chivalric Knights to a unit of Gothic knights.

I seem to remember Kings and their heirs also replenishing automatically, but I could be wrong.

Yep, you can retrain royal knights if you have a Royal Court?... I think (the first level, which upgrades to baronial). And knightly retinues replenish automatically with time, the same is true with Ghulam bodyguards. I remember a lot of times when I was trying to do some genetic clenasing by trying to kill my bad princes. They're tough to kill because their retinues keep replenishing.

This is also true with princely Kataphraktoi and Boyars... I think...

Yes, that is correct. All faction leaders and all princes will have their personal units replenish automatically, although this usually takes several turns. You can still upgrade them in one turn, however, in any province that can train that unit. So if your king's royal knights are almost depleted, you can retrain his unit to full strength in any province with a royal court.

By the way, welcome to the Org, Hoquista. Glad you're enjoying the game!
