Never heard of Maplin. I typically shop at CCL Online, got my enitre PC for just £500. And it's one hell of a PC, probably the best one on the .Org.

Maplin are probably 1 of if not THE longest runing mail order electronics company's in the uk. (i say mail order as thats Exactly what they used to be in the days before mass internet usage, If you aint heard of em. You havent been in the buisness long enough.)
    http://www.applegate.co.uk/results/00/10/680.htm

    P.S

I could not find a Buisness register for ccl online...
    Are they a legitemate buisness.?
Its usualy easy to find Buisness registers Unless of course the buisness has not been registerd...
    or possibly does not exist.
and as such i dont think id trust them...

Seems you have bought a pc from them though..
So i guess they just havent registerd there company so they dont pay tax.
Or prehaps there just a small section of a largher company.

It wasn't that hard to find. Just type CCL in google, the first page will have them.

    http://www.cclonline.com/

Just looking, i can get a 160GB Hardrive for £39.00, ex VAT.

Anyway, they're based in Britain. I've even been to their headquarters once!

    not the web page....

    The Buisness register...

All buisneses haft to register them self.

some of the links i provided show Huge numbers of buisneses that ARE registerd as buisneses.
    )
CCL online. is not registerd as a buisness.
has aproximatly 80 peopel working for it.
and has not been around to long at all..

any 1 can make a web page and start selling things.
But that dosent mean there a legitemate buisness.

maplin's are a registerd buisness who have been up and running . since 1972
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/CompanyHistory.aspx?doy=search
ccl online is not. a registerd buisness and Claims its been running since 1995...

so as i implied they could be avoiding taxes and thus provide a cheaper service.
But i also state they could be a sister company or just a small section of a larger company. so dont need to register as an independant buisness.

    maplin offer..a
    200GB 7200 IDE HDD
    £74.99.

or a amd 64bit bare bone system (needs ram and hdd) for £99.99.

    and PC3200 512MB DDR = £39.99

so from maplin you can get a 64bit amd with 200gb hdd and 512mb x2 3200 ram (1gig) for around £300.
and thats without looking for the items that are on sale.

They have definately been around since the 90's, i remember i think in 98-99 my dad coming home with some equipment in bags with the words CCL on them. If they weren't a registered business, how could they have been around so long?
