For me its definiteley been the Casse. I had to restart the game after an hour or so of play, every time. Will this new patch stop all of these CTDs.

Sometimes the quick-save is too "close" I think - and the event that causes the CTD has already happened.
I found a couple with the Romans that have been a bit tricky, but I have been quick-saving before I end-turn and (mostly) real-saving every Spring so the most I can lose is about three turns. I haven't lost a major battle yet, but I expect it will happen eventually.
Sorry if you are already doing all this - I haven't played around with the Casse yet.

I probably should try to savemore but, the CTDs seem to happen after a certain amount of time. Dont people like stop these errors usng somekind of perfect spy script.

I'm not aware of any fancy scripts, although I use the console command "toggle_fow" to watch my neighbours and take the map screenshots for the "AI Expansion" thread? I noticed that a couple of my crashes happened immediately after the Seleukids finished their moves, but I still crashed. ;)Originally Posted by Roderick Ponce Von Fontlebottom

It'll be interesting to see this for the patch once it comes out, but the patch will put an end to most all CTDs we hope. I would like to see this after folks start playing on the patch now though.
Yea with all CTDs gone Europa Barbarorum will be, hands down , the best mod for Rome.Actually I think it might just be my favorite mod of all time. The only other mod I can think of that iell never forget is Vampire Embrace for morrowind. It made the Vampiric experience a thopusand times better.

Keep in mind that even with the next patch, it's still an open beta. So CTDs will happen from time to time, as well as other gaps and errors. That said, it's MUCH more stable.Originally Posted by Roderick Ponce Von Fontlebottom

I got a couple of CTD's in battles and was worried, but I'm almost certain it was because I tried to get the skymod to work with EB and in the middle of a battle (not when any new units were first shown or anything, but sorta like when the sky or weather would change) I'd get a CTD. I haven't had it happen since I removed it though. Otherwise I haven't had any in battles and I've not had a single one occur during turns on the campaign map. And I've been playing through many years testing things out.
Who have you been playing with, and are you playing the original beta version of EB or have you changed it?Originally Posted by Teleklos Archelaou

Most of my ctd's are related to the combine units bug at the ends of battles, especially seiges. As soon as I start smacking a faction around they start producing 1-3 unit armies running all over. Reminds me of kicking an ant hill. anyways, no matter who I play the ctd's skyrocket 30-40 yrs into the game, due to the higher frequency of multiple army battles. BTW, does anyone know if there's a fix for this now or in the next patch.I know I've seen it mentioned in a bunch of diff. threads but never saw a solution mentioned other than manually taking over an ai faction.
TA is probably playing the patched version or an internal pre-patch release. Non-EB members will have to wait until Saterday (hopefully) before they can lay their hands on a more stable version.Originally Posted by Roderick Ponce Von Fontlebottom
AFAIK there is no known fix and it is one of the major headaches of the EB team, as they do not know how on earth this could cause a crash,Originally Posted by Alleycat

Yeah. Man, that still is so bizarre. We are still totally puzzled by this and have no idea what could be causing it. We have tried different things, but nothing seems to be affecting this in a way that we can control. It's not something that happens constantly, but we would really like to know what's going on. Maybe, just maybe, porting could help it. We'll see...Originally Posted by Ludens

No need to solicit comparisons to another mod here on the EB forum. There's a thread in the Modding Discussions forum here at the org on this. Some good posts and thoughtst there.

Certainly glad you're enjoying EB though. I know it'll be even better with the patch for you too!![]()
Well i just encountered a CTD with the carthaginians, as allot of people i hoped that the new patch would greatly reduce the number of CTD's but it only took me 15 mins of play and perhaps 8 rounds for the game to crash in worldmap mode. Normally i'd just return, save the game and press continue, but it crashes everytime i press continue. I have to say this is greatly annoying me and reduces the fun and time that i want to play EB :/.
However it needs to be said, EB is without a doubt the most complete and satisfying mod for RTW. Great job guys! But ill wait for the next patch thank you.

The purpose of releasing the Open Beta knowing that CTDs were present was so that people can help us find them. Please go through the steps we have outlined to isolate these CTDs.
If everyone simply played the mod and gave up when they ran into a CTD we will never get to the point where the CTDs are gone.
Is it weird that I haven't got an unavoidable CTD so far? I hadn't got as far as some people (I think I got to the 230s before I patched to 0.7.3), but - playing as the Romani - I have yet to get a CTD that I could replicate.Originally Posted by khelvan

We need people to let us know what problems exist, because we are simply not capable of doing serious testing with a limited team in a short period of time. But it's good to know that while most posts are for problems, there are some people who aren't having any or at least not many. Thanks!

Only problem I have is that I get a CTD at the end of the second turn, as the romans, everytime no matter what I do. Pity cause the mod looks gorgeous.
The latest version seems a lot more buggy than the first one to me.
I hardly had any CTD when playing the OB and I never had a game ending CTD at all. (I played a Baktrian, Epeirote and Carthage campaign)
After the patch I tried a Getai campaign and I have yet to get past 270BC.
I restarted the campaign 3 times and I usually get a CTD in 271 or 270 BC during the Ptolemai turn.
I'll try perfectspy to figure out what's going on, if I can find the thread.
That will most likely be this problem. There is a simple way to get rid of it, but it will cause unstoppable crashes otherwise.Originally Posted by GMT

Two frustrating crashes with Casse... I was slowly building my economy and when I mustered large enought army I went to fight with two armies of rebel in one time. It was hard battle, but I won. Then the game crashed. Just before displaying the campaign screen. It was yesterday. Today I tried the same battle as I had a save game just before it. And the game crashed again.![]()

There is a problem with fighting against an enemy with reinforcements, it sometimes causes crashes and sometimes doesn't. However I have found that not running the game in high priority reduces the number of these wierd crashes, so if you are running in high priority mode try not and see if that works. If it doesn't then the only way around it is not to pick the armies off one at a time.Originally Posted by Revenant
I might add though that i'm highly impressed that you managed to beat off both of the starting rebel armies on the British Isles. I have trouble with just the large one on its own.

Thanks for help, I will try it. I play only on normal difficulty, that can be the reason of my success. And I had a really good army.Originally Posted by Foot
So far the only CTDs I've had are when my computer runs low on virtual memory :D
Wonderfully stable now, the game is. Beautiful new update!

I got my first horrible CTD right after a huge battle in Bagacos (1350ish vs my 500ish). I won an Heroic Victory with my Victor, and then it crashed and I didn't get to see if he had managed to win the acclaim of his troops. :(

I've experienced many crashes playing as Baktria. Some were just random, I reloaded, did some stuff different and was fine. Three others were each after a major battle. And all three were Heroic victories. Those were only really solved with autocalculating. I ended up losing one, but won the other two, with many more casualties than when I played it of course. But I dealt with it. The last has become a seemingly unavoidable one about 20 turns in. Nothing I do changes the crash.
I was really just fiddling around anyway. Never played as Baktria in 0.72, so wanted to test how I would go about playing their campaign. I have also been just messing around with Carthage (still my favorite faction and the one I play the most, by far). Just fiddling, I go 30 or so turns in with no CTDs. So, so far for me Baktria is giving me the most problems.
the only crashes I got before were those as baktria after I'd taken susa, persepolis, ekbatana and seleukeia, which were stonewalled.
