How do I get on stw mp?

My Brother is Working on the MS-DOS ploblem, but he having some ploblems,he's confused..

any suggestions??

When this has happened to me in the past and the download was available elsewhere (which the patch is) I just went to an alternate source until I got an uncorrupted file. FWIW ... .

Warman - where did you try downloading the patch from? I originally used Shambles' page, but I kept getting corrupted files like you, and then I downloaded it from totalwar.com and it worked fine.

As for the msdos problem...

I will get all the files you need to fix it and tell you where to put them in a few mins.

and it saids "failed to Connect"

I tried it many times already so, and I already used the thing to make it Shambles server,so what should I do??

have you configured STW (normal) for the fakeserver?

anyway, get WE if you don't have it.

are you sure your internet.cfg file has the right contents?

you could download the internet cfg file i linked to a few posts ago.

Then right click the shortcut you use to start stw.
click the icon.>then select properties>find target

this will open the folder where the internet.cfg file needs to live.
and then you can moove the downloaded file to there.
Or alternetavly,
you can...

right click the shotcut you use to start shougun>properties>find target.
and then copy the file path from the adress feild at the top.
And paste that in as the download directory when you download the internet .cfg

The Edited internet.cfg file. MUST live in the same folder as the exe that starts the game..

and it ask me to make a New Folder cuz it doesn't exist, you know what I mean when it comes up, so I did and it installed, should I try now??

The only thing that needs to be done to access Shambles server from “any” version of STW is to change the “Internet” CFG File.

Original reads:

ChatserverIPAddress = daphne.eagames.co.uk
ChatserverPort = 8794
NewsserverIPAddress = daphne.eagames.co.uk
NewsserverPort = 8797
ShogunTotalWarWebsite = www.totalwar.com

Changed to:

ChatserverIPAddress = ShogunTW.no-ip.info
ChatserverPort = 8793
NewsserverIPAddress = daphne.eagames.co.uk
NewsserverPort = 8797
ShogunTotalWarWebsite = http://dflw.2ya.com/

(without the underlines)
And save it.

With multiple tries you should be able to log on.

The upgrade patches for WE and MI (to v1.02 Beta), and the original STW (to v1.12) are available at:

Ok lets do it like this :)...

Should work ok...

Step 1...
Right click the shot cut you use to start shogun, and select properties.

Step 2.
A new window will open.
Select find target.

step 3.
A new window will open "this is your shogun directory"
Highlight the text in the address feild. Right clcik it and say Copy.


Step 4.
Download This file...

When propted to save or open say save.
a new window will open..


now where it says file name. You need to click just in front of the test thats already in the box. and then right click and select Paste.
also you need to add a \ so it ends up similar to this.



notice that the added text is the same as what we copied back in step 3.
and we have also added a \ inbetween the pasted text, and the internet.cfg text.

Hope that makes sence.

Just remember the INTERNET.cfg file Lives in your Shogun directory.

So you can just do step 1 through 3.
download the internet file any where you like,

and then moove the file to the shogun directory.

your shogun directory is the new window that opens in step 3.
