Thread: This might be a bug

Default This might be a bug

As the Getia, after capturing the two provinces that i can build my type 1 goverment in, I noticed that I can't select a type two goverment. Just a 1, 3, or 4. I'm not sure if this is a bug or intentional. The two cities in question are Sarmiszegethusa and Kallatis.

It happened in a lot of Roman provinces with homeland potential. I assume it was a feature, not a bug?

No it's a bug. Not sure if this will make it into the v.74, but it's definitely on the "must fix" list.

Oops, now I wish I'd mentioned it when I noticed it.

I think we are looking at putting type2 precursors in most of those places. It's assumed type1 is the best when you can place it, and type2 wouldn't be necessary there (in most cases), but in a future build we will put type2 precursors in all these places too as it would give the player more choices if they want it.

Thanks for clarifying. In sum it's not really a bug so much as forcing you to do the smart thing. In the future we will modify the game so you can weaken your faction unneccessarily, should you so desire!

Edit: Which suggests Dave, that we might want to have a discussion about adding some kind of new benefit to the Type2 (other than slightly shorter build time), so that there's more of a trade-off in opting for the Type1.

Yeah, Mike was looking at totally overhauling the bonuses for govts and making them more standardized first, then adding special ones for certain factions, but the stat stuff more recently has put that on hold. At least it's working now and we can fine tune the bonuses a little later if we need to (probably in teh 1.5 build I would guess - I dno't want to make any unnecessary changes to the 1.2 one in the EDB till then actually).
