So who's you're favourite?

For me it has to be that towering god of metal Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)
Second must be Mikeal Ankerfelt (sp?) from Opeth.

P.S Not sure if I can include Led Zep and Sabbath as metal?

Opeth?

Is the guy Daffy Duck's cousin?

"Opeth Thickth of Mot-thart's Thymphony ith fabuluth."

Me, of course. It would be nice to be able to duplicate the sounds of Paul from NCC, though.

Devin Townsend, of Strapping Young Lad fame.

Led Zeppelin was one of the first heavy metal bands. Their vocalist is one of my favorites.

People constantly tell me that Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple are metal bands. These people are wrong.

Listen to the records, folks!

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Rob Halford. He is not my favorite, but he has great range, similiar to Dickinson.

That's because people here don't really listen to metal.

There is only a small difference between metal and hard rock, isn't there?

C'mon. It has to be Devin Townsend; just listen to his contributions to Steve Vai's Sex & Religion, his incredible voice on the various Strapping Young Lad albums and of course his own solo albums. Guy's got an amazing range.

Nope, worlds in between, just like between rock (say, Elvis) and hard rock (say, G 'n' R).

Mikeal Ankerfelt from Opeth ! I just love his vocal range. Saw them in show last 2 weeks ago in the Imperial theater in Qc city with Dark Tranquility. My 2nd best show ever, after Dream Theater integral show in 2004.

Have to say Dickinson. I got to meet him (well, just shake his hand really) once when my sister's roomate worked at a radio station and she got me a backstage pass. I got to shake his hand and said something like, "Nice show Bruce!" Hehe. But the coolest thing ever was that this was the time when he was releasing his first solo album, Tatooed Millionare. My sister got a limited edition cassete tape and when I played it, before the tape started, she got him to say, "Hi there. This is Bruce Dickinson, from Iron Maiden, and you're listening to [my name]'s stereo!" I still have the tape. Gonna record it into digital form so I always have it.

Seemed like a nice guy.

I also have to give props to Dio, the man who single-handedly popularized one of my favorite mannerisms, the devil-head hand salute!

Rock on, metalheads!

Heh. If Nightwish is metal, then I might suggest Till Lindeman.

Either because I have good taste, or because I don`t listen much to metal.

Ozzy Osbourne
Bruce Dickenson
Till Libermann (I think that's his name, the singer from Rammestien)
Maynard James Keenan

What type of metal do you mean though, the yelly, unintelligible type, or another?

Bruce Dickinson for me too, he is the perennial Metal frontman and for me, at least, always will be.

However a very honourable shout out goes to ZP Theart from Dragonforce, who has one of the best voices I have heard in Metal. Also my favorite growler is probably old school Anders Friden from In Flames.

I suppose Soundgarden is somewhat metallic, but regardless, Chris Cornell is the greatest vocalist ever...
