    Question First Cohort in Campaign?

Can you get Legionary First Cohorts in Campaign? Sorry I know this has probably been asked before, but I searched around and couldn't find the answer.

You can, but I'm pretty sure they can only be recruited in Rome after the Marian reforms.

They can be given to you as a Senatorial gift after the Marius reform (before that you´ll get Triarii). And they can be built in Rome, so if you take the city before you´ve reached the 50-province count you can build them.

The First Cohorts in the BI game are trainable in any City advanced enough as far as I know. I can’t remember the name of the building required but for an example as the Eastern Roman Empire you can build them approx mid-campaign in Constantinople. So the capital cities of the Western and Eastern Empires can build them certainly and in the ERE campaign I finished a while back they were also available in Ravenna (Venetia) also.

By the end of the game I had at least 1 First Cohort in each army.

Thanks guys. I loved playing with them in custom battles, but I haven't taken Rome yet. Do you know what building you need to get them?

The highest level barracks where you train Urban Cohorts from, I think.

I don't remember the name, but you need the baracks on level higher than necessary to produce the normal variant (i.e. the baracks that produce legionary cohorts can produce early first legionary cohorts). Also, while the senate awarded first legionary cohorts in 1.1 for succesfull completion of their missions, I haven't seen this happen in 1.5 yet.

Welcome to the Org, BTW .

Can the early first cohorts be trained outside of Rome in vanilla or do the same rules apply?

You could always remove the hidden resource Rome from them and be able to train them everywhere.

All you have to do is go to export_descr_buildings in your RTW Data folder and change the line from this:

    Code:
recruit "roman legionary first cohort i" 0 requires factions { roman, } and hidden_resource rome and marian_reforms
    to this:

    Code:
recruit "roman legionary first cohort i" 0 requires factions { roman, } and marian_reforms
    "Get Down Or Lay Down"-Beans
"A disorderly mob is no more an army than a pile of building materials is a house"-Socrates
