    Default Famous battle markings

I have been playing the ERE. I have noticed that since I have installed the 1.6 patch the markings for famous battles are no longer appearing on the map. Has anybody seen the same?

I thought actually this was happening to me, but it isn't. Although I'm not sure if the old markers are still there.

HHHmmmm I wonder why I can't see any. I have just had a battle outside an enemy city. The garrison and reinforcements outnumbered my forces by over 2 to 1. The enemy were wiped out ( only a few troops surviving) and the city captured. I was very pleased and would have liked to have the little crossed swords on the map to remind me... Oh well I will have to try harder next time...

Not sure if I`ve got them in BI with the latest patch, but I got three of them in RTW yesterday. I believe the marking system used, is the same for both games.

I don't know what changed about the requirements for them in BI, but they are certainly far rarer.

They don't happen if they are because of a siege, even if the enemy sallies out with reinforcements and you don't fight with the city on the battle map. Only battles in the open field can be labelled as famous battles.

all my battles was in the open field, i ran after the fleeing vandal hordes into spain so they shouldnt take any cities from WRE, after wiping the horde WRE start to attack my army before i could get out from spain, so i had both to attack and defend in the open field, but there wasnt any marks after any of those battles, but defending myself in north east italy against the Goths with almost equally big armies i got one mark one time.

I think you need massive armies on both sides to qualify for a famous battle.

    RTW V1.5 No Mods

8years into the Brutii campaign and only one famous battle marking.

It followed this battle which was a 'Heroic Victory'.

Ive had a few big battles (not heroic) and one other Heroic battle (not big) but none other produced the battle markings like that battle above.

It was an open field battle even though part of the Greek army originated from Sparta.

    then my next question is:

    how big must they be?

the largest battle i had in spain was around 1200 men for me and about 4400 for the vandals, the kill ratio were 4200 for me and only 7 for the vandals. there were no mark after that battle and it was a heroic victory

in northern italy i had about 1500 men and the goth 2000 men. i got a mark after i got a clear victory i killed about 1800 of them and they killed around 200 from me

Do these "Famous Battle Markings" work for RTW 1.5?

I have some in my 1.5 RTW game, mostly from where Gaul was attacking me with full stacks of warbands and I annihilated them with a half-stack and kept getting Man of the Hour nominations. They don't seem to be anywhere near as common as they were in 1.0. I can't remember whether I had any while I was playing 1.3.

I do have them in my Sass 1.6 campaign.

Well it's 225 BC in my Greek campaign and I've only had one so far. I think you only get them with Heroic Victories, of which I've only had one - the famous battle. My captain also got promoted to a general, he had military genius traits + superior commander from the very start! He soon became my faction leader.

I was pretty sure i got one from a siege of Larissa as Brutii, but thinking back i was attacked first by an army, the garrison sallied as reinforcements. But i managed to pick up a few of them in greece

I don't think you get markers for every heroic victory, but only for the ten or so "best" heroic victories.

Wrong, I have a battle marker on Sidon, and on several other cities.
