Seems rather high, I too doubt the accuracy of this test.Your IQ score is 142!

Your mind's strengths allow you to think ahead of the game -- to imagine or anticipate what should happen next in just about any situation. Because you're equally skilled in the numerical and verbal universes of the brain, you can draw from multiple sources of information to come up with new ideas and this makes you a Visionary Philosopher.
You also have a knack for matching and anticipating patterns in all sorts of situations, a talent that adds to your visionary philosopher mind.

I haven't bothered with IQ tests in ages, and there's a simple reason -- I was given two of them when I was a kid. The first one said that I was mildly retarded (I think it was in the low 80s). Four years later, I was given a different IQ test, and it said I was a supra-genius (hign 160s). Now, let's leave out whether either of those scores has any relationship to the truth, and let's look at the spread.
That's an 80-point spread. On the same person. Who took the test seriously. What kind of test can show an 80-point spread? Oh, I know, since I'm a mildly-retarded genius -- a messed-up test that isn't measuring accurately.
Do I get extra genius points for figuring that out? Or is my mildly retarded side showing?
I know people who were told by 'professionals' that they couldn't handle a certain level of education in our highschool system, some of them ended up at the top of their year in uni (in engineering, pretty much the most difficult masters you can take). Some people who tested incredibly high at a 'real' IQ test (one guy got 168) have had a lot more trouble keeping up. And it certainly is not that they study less or work less than the 'low IQ people'.Originally Posted by Lemur

At times high intelligence can, just like great knowledge of the subejct, be a problem in the tests.
When you are used to dealing with problems that demand the best of you, and you are pretty intelligent, you can get very confused when you are asked something very simple (yet not too simple). You often end up thinking "is this some kind of trickquestion?" Seeking out various hidden clues or special connections between the options and so on. In the end most people will come to the conclusion it is not a trick, but time has been spent unwisely on something you should have skimmed past.
I have in fact failed an exam to this (my teacher finally told me not to overcomplicate things when he had looked at my results).
In any case tests like these are limited. They take into account geometric understanding, math and linguistics, but they lack to take into account many other aspects. I wouldn't say that musical and emotional intelligence can be measured in any other way than conversations or lengthy exposure, so I think it is unfair to demand this from a written test.
Btw, I got 135. Visual Math.
While it is getting to be a cliche here, that is actually pretty much what I have gotten previously. At 16 I got that exact number, got 137 a few years later, at the military tests the little board of people uttered a little 'wow' and nodded with smiles when they went over my record (though in the physical department they basically ignored me). I never got the test back, forgot to ask. Later still, a few years ago I took another that put me yet again in 135.
So I'm pretty certain that that is where I must be when it comes to these kind of things.
I think half the problem here is that people are very intelligent here, and as such these bogus tests only confirm people in what they already knew. "Hey I got the same as I got before. I'll tell my buddies." Then these buddies who are less intelligent will score almost similar levels, where the results are truly crap.
Fluctuating results over a lengthy period, especially growing up, are very much possible. If the intellect is not stimulated it can stagnate, and your percieved intelligence will drop. It can get up again though.
And I believe that all people have a certain intelligence-slack they can firm up with the proper stimuli. Think that 90 is the lowest possible score for person X while 125 is the highest possible, but in normal conditions he/she will get 110.
This is confirmed (for me) in the fact that in Japan they have an average intelligence of about 110, where the rest of us have it about 100 (logically). I don't think Japanese are more intelligent than the rest of the world, they are just better suited to these tests due to their schools and the stimuli they get.

I'm not patient enough to take that test I scored a 106 when I just clicked on the last like 15 .
What is the answer to this, and why:
John likes 400 but not 300; he likes 100 but not 99; he likes 3600 but not 3700. Which does he like?
900
1000
1100
1200
Apparently I'm an idiot.
138 according to the test.
900, mang. They're all nice squares, obviously minus the 99, 300, and 3700.
I'm sure you know this now though, 138 is pretty impressive, considering what happened half an hour after this post.![]()
I broke down in tears after the third question. The computer wouldn't stop laughing at me.
It gave me a 6 and said go away...

Aren't real IQ tests timed? I seem to recall a televised IQ test some time ago, in which various groups of people (representative of particular societal classes) were tested. Audience members at home were invited to participate in the test. The amount of time given for each question was rather limited, and some of the questions were quite hard (compared with what's found on a Tickle test).
With these online tests, you can think about each question for as long as you want. That alone probably artificially inflates scores.

Imo these tests are complete bollocks. How do you want to measure intelligence?
What's intelligence? Ever heard of emotional intelligence? Well that's something that they don't test for example.
If a person trains those kinds of tests he will get better every time.
Does that mean that he gets more intelligent?![]()

For what I know in psychology intelligence is measurable, or at least formalized, it's called G Factor. Beyond that, did you prove the second test (the one on the quote in my post above), it gives you 40 minutes to solve 38 exercises I believe, the last twenty can be real hard, or perhaps it's just my weak mind.Originally Posted by R'as al Ghul

Some examples of why I don't believe IQ tests measure your practical intelligence (all the questions are taken from existing IQ tests):
1. John likes 400 but not 300; he likes 100 but not 99; he likes 3600 but not 3700. Which does he like? a. 900 b. 1000 c. 1100 d.1200
Answer1: a. 900, because it's the square of an integer, unlike the other numbers
Answer2: b&c, 1000 and 900 - because the sum of the digits comprising these numbers is the square of an integer, unlike with 1100 and 1200.
Answer3: a. 900, because the factorization of the ones he dislike contain at least one prime factor which only occurs once in the factorization.
Answer4: b. 1000, because it's a common number when dealing with metric systems, like the others John liked. 400 is the number of degrees in the newer military system for measuring angles, 100 is the number of centimeters per meter, and 3600 is the number of seconds per hour. 1000 is used in many cases such as 1 kg = 1000 g, etc., while 900, 1100 and 1200 aren't used in any common metric systems.
Test maker's answer: a, nothing else is considered correct
2. Which one doesn't belong? a. Apple, b. Orange, c. Banana, d. Tomato (there were pictures on all of them next to the question)
Answer1: d. Obviously the tomato, because it's a vegetable, the others being fruits
Answer2: c. Obviously the banana, because all others are almost spherical
Answer3: a. Obviously the apple, because it's got a so-called "temperate color" (blue or green) while the others have "hot colors" (red or yellow).
Answer4: x, because the x in picture x wasn't ripe while the others were ripe
Test maker's answer: d, nothing else considered correct.
All that is tested is whether you think the same way as the maker of the test. Often more knowledge about a subject often also decreases your ability to answer the questions. Looking at question2, for example an expert at biology would claim that there's no biological difference between vegetables and fruits, which would immediately make him/her consider d an impossible answer. There's also no need to motivate your answers in the IQ tests, which means it's impossible to tell whether the answer was really the result of intelligence or just a guess, or some stupid way of thinking, that for some reason happened to lead to the same result. What's more, it's possible to increase your intelligence by practising at IQ tests. I improved my score by 50 after practising for a few hours, and this was when I was 10 years old. Typically I now when making these tests see around at least 3 possible systems, often all of them resulting in different answers, for each question. What checkbox do I check in those cases? I think these Mensa and others who create IQ tests are a fraud. That said, a good score is never a bad thing...</END RANT>

As an agricultural engineer the tomato question bothered me too.
BTW my girlfriend (soon to be a Master of plant science and quite knowledgable on fruit and vegetables) says it's obviously a banana, since it's the only yearly plant![]()

I've had various tests, and I have scored from 138 into the 140s.
139---Your Intellectual Type is Precision Processor. This means you're exceptionally good at discovering quick solutions to problems, especially ones that involve math or logic. You're also resourceful and able to think on your feet. And that's just some of what we know about you from your test results.
There are so many variables tho, I've never really put much weight in IQ tests, and certainly not in internet ones.
