    Your IQ score is 142!
    Visionary Philosopher

Your mind's strengths allow you to think ahead of the game -- to imagine or anticipate what should happen next in just about any situation. Because you're equally skilled in the numerical and verbal universes of the brain, you can draw from multiple sources of information to come up with new ideas and this makes you a Visionary Philosopher.

You also have a knack for matching and anticipating patterns in all sorts of situations, a talent that adds to your visionary philosopher mind.
Seems rather high, I too doubt the accuracy of this test.
"Look I’ve got my old pledge card a bit battered and crumpled we said we’d provide more turches churches teachers and we have I can remember when people used to say the Japanese are better than us the Germans are better than us the French are better than us well it’s great to be able to say we’re better than them I think Mr Kennedy well we all congratulate on his baby and the Tories are you remembering what I’m remembering boom and bust negative equity remember Mr Howard I mean are you thinking what I’m thinking I’m remembering it’s all a bit wonky isn’t it?"

I haven't bothered with IQ tests in ages, and there's a simple reason -- I was given two of them when I was a kid. The first one said that I was mildly retarded (I think it was in the low 80s). Four years later, I was given a different IQ test, and it said I was a supra-genius (hign 160s). Now, let's leave out whether either of those scores has any relationship to the truth, and let's look at the spread.

That's an 80-point spread. On the same person. Who took the test seriously. What kind of test can show an 80-point spread? Oh, I know, since I'm a mildly-retarded genius -- a messed-up test that isn't measuring accurately.

Do I get extra genius points for figuring that out? Or is my mildly retarded side showing?

    Answered randomly, got 130.

'IQ' tests on the internet are all bollocks, when they have the clear goal of trying to make you buy their products which is based on your IQ result, I wouldn't suggest you take the test seriously.

Then again, my guessing ability could have an IQ of 130!

GARCIN: I died too soon. I wasn't allowed time to - to do my deeds.
INEZ: One always dies too soon - or too late. And yet one's whole life is complete at that moment, with a line drawn neatly under it, ready for the summing up. You are - your life, and nothing else.

That's funny. I answered every question wrong and got a score of 75 Apparently that makes me:

This means you are a creative thinker and are uniquely good at teaching others through experiences. You are also a great improviser and very good at handling change.

What's the score everyone gets on the danish test LegioXXXUlpiaVictrix linked to?

Seems serious (mensa is involved and I suspect that they're quite prideful when it comes to members), but only meassures one type of intelligence.

    Did get 138 there.
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

Your Intellectual Type is Visionary Philosopher. This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns. And that's just some of what we know about you from your IQ results.

I know people who were told by 'professionals' that they couldn't handle a certain level of education in our highschool system, some of them ended up at the top of their year in uni (in engineering, pretty much the most difficult masters you can take). Some people who tested incredibly high at a 'real' IQ test (one guy got 168) have had a lot more trouble keeping up. And it certainly is not that they study less or work less than the 'low IQ people'.

My personal max at and IQ test (internet) is 148, my personal low is 106 (tv test) . As long as it's math I can score pretty high, but the tv test had a 'visual' intelligence section, if only that would be used to determine IQ I would score 0...

I wondered if someone would try that (deliberately 'tank' the test). Good job Sasaki Kojiro !

Way back in the stone age, when I went to high school, it was the beginning of "Great Society" programs, and urban renewal. I lived in the Detroit ghetto. What those programs meant to individual students was: some kind of 'measuring' test almost every day. Many of us got sick and tired of filling in bubbles and punching holes in IBM cards daily, answering the essentially same types of questions over and over again. We were usually given no feedback on those tests, as they were sent to some compiler "in the sky" somewhere.

My little clique decided to deliberately fail the tests. We got placed in "Independent Study", and tutored by 2nd year uni students (who got paid federal dollars to 'raise up' dumb inner city kids) - they soon caught on that we didn't need the tutoring, but were ignored when they told school admin's. So we worked with them on their uni assignments instead.

What a waste of money and effort. All because of unclear, top-down but never bottom-up communication.

I'll see if I can beat your 75 score.

edit: It was being kind, merely saying my score was below 79. LoL.
p.s. I took the second, 'no sign-up necessary' test.

900, mang. They're all nice squares, obviously minus the 99, 300, and 3700.

I'm sure you know this now though, 138 is pretty impressive, considering what happened half an hour after this post.

Aren't real IQ tests timed? I seem to recall a televised IQ test some time ago, in which various groups of people (representative of particular societal classes) were tested. Audience members at home were invited to participate in the test. The amount of time given for each question was rather limited, and some of the questions were quite hard (compared with what's found on a Tickle test).

With these online tests, you can think about each question for as long as you want. That alone probably artificially inflates scores.

Default Re: What is your IQ?

Some examples of why I don't believe IQ tests measure your practical intelligence (all the questions are taken from existing IQ tests):

    1. John likes 400 but not 300; he likes 100 but not 99; he likes 3600 but not 3700. Which does he like? a. 900 b. 1000 c. 1100 d.1200

Answer1: a. 900, because it's the square of an integer, unlike the other numbers

Answer2: b&c, 1000 and 900 - because the sum of the digits comprising these numbers is the square of an integer, unlike with 1100 and 1200.

Answer3: a. 900, because the factorization of the ones he dislike contain at least one prime factor which only occurs once in the factorization.

Answer4: b. 1000, because it's a common number when dealing with metric systems, like the others John liked. 400 is the number of degrees in the newer military system for measuring angles, 100 is the number of centimeters per meter, and 3600 is the number of seconds per hour. 1000 is used in many cases such as 1 kg = 1000 g, etc., while 900, 1100 and 1200 aren't used in any common metric systems.

Test maker's answer: a, nothing else is considered correct

    2. Which one doesn't belong? a. Apple, b. Orange, c. Banana, d. Tomato (there were pictures on all of them next to the question)

Answer1: d. Obviously the tomato, because it's a vegetable, the others being fruits

Answer2: c. Obviously the banana, because all others are almost spherical

Answer3: a. Obviously the apple, because it's got a so-called "temperate color" (blue or green) while the others have "hot colors" (red or yellow).

Answer4: x, because the x in picture x wasn't ripe while the others were ripe

Test maker's answer: d, nothing else considered correct.

All that is tested is whether you think the same way as the maker of the test. Often more knowledge about a subject often also decreases your ability to answer the questions. Looking at question2, for example an expert at biology would claim that there's no biological difference between vegetables and fruits, which would immediately make him/her consider d an impossible answer. There's also no need to motivate your answers in the IQ tests, which means it's impossible to tell whether the answer was really the result of intelligence or just a guess, or some stupid way of thinking, that for some reason happened to lead to the same result. What's more, it's possible to increase your intelligence by practising at IQ tests. I improved my score by 50 after practising for a few hours, and this was when I was 10 years old. Typically I now when making these tests see around at least 3 possible systems, often all of them resulting in different answers, for each question. What checkbox do I check in those cases? I think these Mensa and others who create IQ tests are a fraud. That said, a good score is never a bad thing...</END RANT>

There was this one tv show which tested the IQ of contestants in Holland twice, the first time the contestants made the test just like any other one would the second time they made the test while smoking pot...

Guess which time they got the better score, and no it wasn't the first time !

I took one IQ test that was far more ambitious than this, for a few weeks ago. Got 127 then.

Among other things, it tested memory, both forward and backwards(e.g. if you see the numbers 6894, you shall write them 4986 after staring on them for 30 sec. or something like that).

Yep, I always have that problem with rows of numbers, especially alternating ones (where the even elements have no relation to the uneven ones), I often find a connection anyway

As an agricultural engineer the tomato question bothered me too.

BTW my girlfriend (soon to be a Master of plant science and quite knowledgable on fruit and vegetables) says it's obviously a banana, since it's the only yearly plant

I did one of those TV IQ tests a few years ago (age ~12). Once, you'd counted up your score, they showed a chart with score and age.

The chart didn't account for participants below 16. But for a 16-20 year old, my score achieved an IQ of 141.

As a 14-year-old I got 148 on one of these things, putting me at about 170 once the age is taken into account. However, all this proves is that I am good at taking IQ tests. Not that I'm "intelligent" (since no-one can really agree on what that is, anyway), just that I am good at taking that particular test.

To get your 'boosted' score (if you're under 16) multiply your 'raw' score by 16/[your age].
