Do Academies improve barbarian generals ?

hi

its my first post, i have carried out a number searches but have been unable to find an answer on this one.

As a barbarian faction you cannot build academies but if you occupy a settlement that does have one will your generals receive retinue's (Mathematician philosophiser etc like Roman generals can)

i am playing barbarian invasion 1.6

thanks for the reply Diurpaneus ,

i have had a general in a province with an academy for about 10-15 turns but he hasn't got any additional retinue yet

has anyone captured a province with an academy with a barbarian faction and managed to gain any retinue benefits?

I'm not sure, but maybe the culture has something to do with it, limiting the types of retinues you can get. You should probably ask someone in the Ludus Magna to get an answer. I've never really played barbarian campaigns for more than 10 turns myself...

In BI the barbarians definitely get ancillaries from the Christian buildings.
I believe they come from the abbey-monastery line of buildings.

But I don't know about academies.

I don't think questions about traits & triggers should be asked in the Ludus Magna: that forum is dedictated to in-depth research of game mechanisms while any modder can answer T&T's questions. It is a pity that Aesculapius never updated his guide for BI, but perhaps Player1 knows.

thanks for the info much appreciated, after scanning other sites such as the official total war site i found that this topic seems to be a bit of a unknown.

as i am a new member i think there are some restrictions on which forums i can create a new thread in.

its tricky one i know but hopefully someone out their will know
