Thread: RTW newbie

    Default RTW newbie

I've had MTW for half a year now. Played RTW demo, didn't like it. I've read a few Barbarian Invasion reviews and want to try it out. Do I need original RTW to play it, or is it a stand alone expansion?

I've got a PIII 1000, 128mb, and a GeForce 2 32mb. I really don't mind bad looking graphics, MTW level would be just fine... so will I be able to play it on this comp? How scalable is the graphics in the game?

I can't help much with the technical stuff but barbarian invasion is part of the RTW game rather than a stand alone so you would have to buy both. Check in the technical forums to see if your computer will cope with the game- you might get away with the lowest graphics settings if you are lucky.

Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much."

My system is about twice as fast as yours and I still get choppy framerates for big battles. Maybe if you'd play on small unit size, but I doubt it's much fun that way.

Game requires a 64 meg video card.

I have a considerably faster system, and the game is choppy at times, and my graphics aren't terribly high. I wouldn't buy it if I were you, sadly the eye-candy is the best part of the game...
