Is it just me, or does everyone here instantly get ADD everytime some one brings up an FPS game?

Meh, I used to play CS a long, long time ago. Got over it when I realized there are other, better MP games.

I just can't stomach Steam. The first weekend I had HL2, they had server trouble and it locked me out of even the single player for almost the entire weekend. That pretty much did it for me- I can't stomach such draconian and invasive copy protection, which is too bad since SiN:episodes looks good but is only being released over steam, afaik.

Not sure why people complain about steam. I love the ability to buy and maintain my games online. Isn't this what people have been complaining about for years now? Why waste gas, physical space, and paper when games are essentially electronic transactions.

And, of course, updates and bug fixes are updated automatically with steam.

It might have been slow the first weekend. But it's fine now. 4-500k/s downloads even during busy periods (new updates, etc).

PS Having said that, I still don't like Valve. They need to add some sort of player rating/feedback mechanism to control rampant immaturity, racism, rudeness, camping, etc. There's always some guy spewing racial slurs who insists on hiding in some box at the far end of the map. Would be a fun game if not for the handful of atrocious people who ruin it for everyene else.

I got CS: Source installed, but I play CoD2 online with the MP mode "Search and Destroy". Pretty much like CS, so I won`t try CS for some time..

I like being able to buy and update games online too. What I don't like is being forced to log onto their service and ask permission every time I want to play even single-player and having "updates" and other garbage shoveled onto my computer without giving me any sayso.

    Stardock Central > Steam

Sorry if too far off-topic, Steam is just a peeve of mine.

I like Steam. But meh. CDs are fun and all but I have piles of the buggers.

Shame Steam isn't a sort of universal game-delivery device. So I will probably end up with half-a-dozen clones installed eventually to get games from different companies.

Copy protection that gives pirates a better game than buyers is a big no-no in my book...
