Hey thanks for the advice, but I figured it out last night at 2:00am (after trying on and off for 6hr)

-Ur right, the patch 1.2 download was corrupt. All the links that were in EB.com had the patch 1.2 but they didn't work (they were zip files). Also www.rometotalwar.com doesn't have a link to patch 1.2, it has 1.3, 1.5. and 1.6. (I tried 1.3 & 1.5, and then 1.3 on its own and didn't work).
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Finaly I went to ACTIVISION.com and they did have a 1.2pacth that worked, it wasn't a zip file, and was 53.+mb.

-I gotta give it to you fellas EB was what RTW was really meant to be.
I know this sounds wierd but to make an analgy: "Finding EB was like finding the woman of your dreams in a room full of women."

    :) congratulations on the patch.

I'm back after not playing for a while and the patch being out has made me want to play more.. along with seeing Braveheart this evening on TV (I don't know why it made me have the urge to lead some armies into battle! :) )

    Thanks

The patch is a bit old. Wait for the incoming 1.5 port.

It can be a bit confusing so here is an example:

Say you go to a club that you have never been to and there are a lot of women, and some are real preatty and you like them. So you keep walking around seeing and taking account of the # of hot women. BUT THEN, all of the sudden you see THE ONE. And all of the other women fall short of matching her.

Its something that has happened to me on a few, rare occasions.

Now the analogy is: "You buy RTW, you play it, you also play some of the mods that there are, and they are good. BUT once you bump into EB you say THIS IS THE ONE" And rest fall short.

I hope this helps.... (however feel free to change it a bit if you like, since I based this on my personal expireices )

well that one is easier to relate to dude (therefore easier to understand)...

BUT I was in a similar situation and it was not fun:
Club, full of guys, 5 fine looking women. Of the 5, 2 were dikes, 2 had a bfriends, and the last 1 was just darn tired of having guys walking up to her. I asked to dance to each TWICE and nothing.

Well, as stated above, dikes are common in lowlying areas, to stop flooding and channel waters in the proper directions. Therefore, when a woman is called a "dike," it means she ain't having none of you (that is, you are the flood waters, and she's the dike...you ain't getting nowhere with her OR her friends...she's also known as a "cb"...like the radio). Have a nice day!

oh, and why not play .7.4? we don't know when .8 will be out, and a game on .7.4 can be a lot of fun so long as you can play long enough to avoid compounding the load/save issues.

    I had no CTD's with 0.74, nor with 0.72.

    So, it's safe to play.

I dont think you need to install the 1.2 patch. Because i think it comes with the game already. but i could be wrong. so someone correct me if im terrible wrong. but from what i remember i didn't need to put the patch on. cuz i had that same error once.

No RTW box version comes patched. All cds are the same version when they ship, and remain that way unless some catastrophic bugs occur in certain released games in which case the defected versions are usually recalled (which doesn't really matter, cause most people would have returned the game at that point anyway). Officially though, BI is 1.6, but that is because it was released that way, and the fixes that are meant for vanilla RTW that come pre-patched in BI were released as the 1.5 patch.

Not exactly. Standard R:TW comes unpatched, but if you install BI it will be patched to 1.3. There is also a gold edition which comes with BI and is already patched to 1.5 (and 1.6 for BI).

I've instaled this patch in hope of resolving a bunch of bugs i had in 0.72
..but there are some things that are still the same, and i don't know if it's my game or if it haven't been adressed yet.. the seleucid emblem bug is solved, but the Voice is still greek for the Roman Faction.. i don't know if the patch was suposed to correct this because i haven't found anything about what is already corrected..

and there is something i noticed while playing..some buildings have strange icons, opac ones, not transparent, and some buildings and names in english and say that it needs translation and others without description at all, anyone has the same problem? or is it my game? should i redownload, reinstall the game and the mod?

Most of the bugs have been adressed.
They will be fixed in the next version, v0.8.

I wouldn't worry about 2 days, we are not that close. Also, I don't want to give a timeframe that would give people hope ... but I will offer this - we are making progress and things are moving. Paitence, and play some 0.74 - you know you want to!

oh yes... you are right :) i wanted, and i did ;)
i like it very much, even its surely not complete at all .... lots of missing stuff etc, but thats why its a beta i think :)

but there was one thing i notices immediately in my first battle. i suppose it was already noticed by others due to the fact that the patch is rather old meanwhile, but if not, then its my duty to do it:

in battles, after you got all enemy units to rout, the battle does not end as it should. means, even if all remaining units had left the battlefield there is no messages which ends the battle. i made 4 battles until now... 2 were normal, but in the other two i had this problem.
the messages comes, but much too late. once i had to wait for 5 minutes with battlespeed on maximux till i could leave the battle.

    just wanted to tell you
